I think it would be sweet to do monthly runs, whether in big bear or areas surrounding :notsure:

The first Saturday of every month sounds like it would work.

I like that idea....have a monthly regular meet up in big bear unless we plan something somewhere else in advance.

One of these days we should run Lockwood Canyon/Miller Jeep Trail up near Gorman since it's only open in the summer/Fall.

Usually it's open by now but might still be closed due to the weather, they close it off when there's snow.

I think doing different trials would be cool. Like Cleghorn, Pilot Rock/2N17X, Oriflamme Canyon, Broom Flats to Balky Horse. All off these are easy to moderate so everyone should be able to do these trails.

I've been eyeballing Miller Jeep trail and would really like to do Cleghorn at some point. Usually if I'm going to make that drive up I go to Bear though.

Did you figure out anything for Saturday night? Weather seems nice right now.

yea this is a great idea. Just pick a trail to meet up at every month. obviously there will be repeats, but having some variation would be awesome.

Yeah I think doing different trails would be a good idea! I think big bear would probably still end up being our main spot though just because there is so many trails to do up there.

Should we put like one or two people in charge of the google doc, like to change the main info like the meeting point and trail info, participant list? I'm down to handle that stuff.

I like where this is going, but it’ll be difficult to please everyone, especially if you’re trying to maintain a rather detailed document. This should be simplistic.

Set a date, set a place, try to get a rough number of attendees

Yea, that's how I roll. Place and time is really all I'm planning on adding to the doc, maybe a rough plan, one or two options for routes for easy and moderate options.

Miller Jeep Trail is a lot of fun, actually it's really short and sweet but Lockwood Canyon is the more fun and longer part of it that takes you to MJT. There's a dope camping site right where Lockwood and MJT meet and are divided by a creek. We should plan a camping/wheeling trip there sometime soon, although I'm not sure if they've opened it up yet. It's definitely a 4x4 w/armor trail, it's on par difficulty wise with Gold Mtn in my book.

Cleghorn I can take or leave....it's got some tricky fun offshoots but mostly it's really popular among dirt bikes/atvs and is one of those 4x4 Jeep trails that everyone in LA knows about, so it can get pretty crowded with large groups. I think the harder version of Pilot Rock (2N17x) is a better trail and in the same area, plus it ends where the fire roads up into Lake Arrowhead begin.

Anyhow so I've been looking up info for tomorrow, it looks like you're right and they still have fire restrictions on camp fires and are limiting them to only developed campgrounds right now, so I'm thinking it would be good to try and claim spots in Holcomb Valley campground early in the day. My dad and I are planning on leaving my house by 9am tomorrow morning but I might try and see if he wants to leave earlier...if we leave by 9am we can be at the start of 3N14 in Hesperia by 1030 or 11am at the latest.
Getting to Hesperia for me involves taking the 15 freeway which I'm sure is going to be mayhem with people trying to go to Vegas for the long weekend, but hopefully it won't be too bad in the AM.

What time would you guys plan on heading out if you were to come? I know you're coming from further away and I can always adjust our time a bit to make sure we meet at the right place/right time.

Wrong. You can’t exclude new fish and stock rigs. You can vary the trail/difficulty month to month so new folks can get the experience and knowledge needed from the vets to up their game.
