I've gotta swap my lower ball joints out this weekend otherwise I would.

Found some up/down play in them last night, and I don't want to become another failed LBJ 1st gen statistic :frusty: Current ones only have 55k on them.

yeah I first noticed that there was some grease moisture getting saturated underneath each of the joints, not oozing grease but it's wet enough to be apparent. That prompted me to jack the front end up and use the pry bar to check for play, sure enough both sides have a little. I know there's a small amount considered "normal" but I've heard that it's hardly supposed to be noticeable, and mine's noticeable. Would rather not take any chances given how I use the truck.

I ordered both sides (OEM) from www.toyotapartsdeal.com, got both and new bolts for $263 shipped. Which is pretty good for OEM, on Amazon both sides were $150 each.

Any noticeable play is too much. I cant remember the amount of play allowed to stay in spec but its so minute that anything you CAN notice is not "in spec". I got mine from camelback. It might be past its year warranty, but looks like thats going on my todo list tomorrow

Kind of makes me want to look into this uniball Solo LCAs I've heard about...actually I'm not sure if theyre even on the market yet but last I heard they were going to be stupid expensive.

I have no complaints about my LCAs in general but getting rid of the shitty 1st gen LBJ design for something more reliable would be nice. Having one fail is always in the back of my mind when I'm on the trail.

How many miles on yours? I got about 55k on this last set..had them put on under the warranty my truck came with shortly after I got it a few years ago. So this'll be my first time doing them myself, but from all accounts I've read it's not a hard job.

@Norsemanvike can I delete the info for last saturday's run? I'll keep the checklist up, as that's still useful, but do you need the info listed for that run for any reason?
