Is the water leaking all over the seats and dash? How can they be saying it is acceptable.

Vertical water pressure from car washes occasionally gets a few drops of water through my roof, too. I've never had this in any previous vehicles, but it is supposedly normal with Tacomas (as per buddy Toyota tech).

    Complete and total horseshit.

Stop dealing with them, go above them or around them.

I just went through the manual (only the bits the glossary pointed em to from "Moonroof") and there is nothing about leaking. As soon as I figure out how to upload a video I will of the leak.

Interesting. I just searched the manual, and there are no instances of the word leak that reference the moon roof or sunroof. All references to leak are in reference to engine fluids, tires, and headlights. I don't see anything in the moonroof section that claims that a leak is normal or expected. I would take my manual in, and ask the rep point out exactly where it says that in the manual.

There is a section that mentions high pressure car washes. It says nothing about moon/sun roofs, only "Do not allow the nozzles of the car wash to come within close proximity of the windows." If you have a leak from a garden hose, or water poured out of a pitcher, aka low pressure, this doesn't apply.

Since it's normal, are they going to say it's your problem if you go on vacation, it rains, and your interior is ruined?

These guys are seriously yanking your chain. Moonroof, sunroof, or not, there is no way your brand new vehicle should have any water infiltration from a hose, rain, or a car wash. It's not a '70s Camaro/Firebird with T-Tops, right?

I'm on the "look into your states lemon law" dogpile. You might also consider looking into contacting your states Attorney General, or whoever oversees auto dealers, to see about filing a complaint with them.

Okay gang, the service manager of the dealership I have been working with just called me. So wait until you hear these new developments.

The last time I took my truck in the dealership did a side by side water test between my truck, 2017, and a 2016 they had on the lot. The service manager stated that mine in fact did leak considerably more than the 2016. To the point where the service manager said he was uncomfortable with the amount that was coming in. Granted it was all falling into the drip tray it was still an excessive amount. Unfortunately when I picked up my vehicle the service rep., not the manager who was out on another call, confused the results of the two vehicles and told me mine was fine.

SO! the dealership is ordering another seal and has forwarded the video of the leaking to Toyota in hopes that they come up with a solution.

For now I will hold off on the lemon law path and see where this one takes us.

OPs truck is ~1 year old tops, the seals shouldn't fail while the truck is under warranty. If they do, it's on Toyota to make it right.

I had car that had the same problem it was a honda, when I took it to the dealership they replaced the whole moonroof, not just the seal (glass seal the mechanics inside the roof, the whole assembly). After that the problem was solved. This all happened under warranty
