Hello -- Newbie and first poster here (and likely in need of a lot of hand holding).

We have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma EXTRA CAB 3.4L V6 4x4 MT and I unfortunately managed to break/snap off the latch for the tilting sunroof. The dealer quoted a large amount of labor to replace, so I thought I might try my hand at it myself, but I need some (a lot?) of advice:

    - What even is the part called and how/where do I order it? I think the part number on toyota.com is 63260, but it doesn't seem to be available.

    - Assume I figure out how to source the part, how do I then install it? Attaching it to the glass part seems straightforward (Philips head screws), but it seems to be fastened to the metal part of the roof with rivets -- not too familiar with those -- do they need to be drilled out? If so, how likely am I to damage something? Are there any online tutorials for how to do this? (have often found such help when DYI'ing other things on vehicles).

As you can tell, I'm a little stumped. Very much look forward to hearing what advice you have. It's a great truck with pretty low mileage for its age, but it's annoying that it leaks when it rains (live in CA so not the hugest inconvenience, but would love to fix without spending 5 hours+ of labor). But if this is something that is very tricky or complicated to pull off for an amateur, hearing that would be helpful as well to assess our options.

I attach a photo of the snapped-off remains of the latch and the roof/glass.

    Thank you so much,

    CruzGuy

Are you sure the part that's riveted is part of the latch? Or, is it the catch piece that the latch joins? I think the part you are showing is in the top RH corner of the diagram, but it only shows screws to the glass, no rivets to body.

Hmm, thank you. The parts I have don't quite look like what's on that diagram--if you look at the photo I posted, the part that's affixed to the roof has rivets or pins (or, now that I look at it again, maybe those are small plastic covers of strews?). The rest of that part, which I still have, doesn't match the diagram, either. The handle itself is branded "SFC" -- could it be aftermarket?
