Ran to Choice Transmissions today on my lunch for yet another opinion regarding my alleged Torque Converter issues. Great guys over there. They checked everything with a stethoscope, and both Techs were certain it is the Torque Converter, or at least something inside it.

During my research on my own, I looked into what all is included in a Torque Converter.. I have a guess that its the Torrington Bearing (main bearing that everything rotates on). The Techs confirmed that that could be the issue, or it could be just a worn plate on the inside, possibly with debris rotating on the inside as well.

SO.. next step in resolving this issue is ordering a Reman'd converter, and swapping it in.

I do feel a little better.. at least I am slowly narrowing it down. we shall see. This will go down sometime in the next month or so hopefully, funds permitting.

Since the truck is about where I want it.. I'm going to be focusing on some TLC mods..

    the headlights and tail lights
a good detailing, clay bar, shampoo, etc
    touch up some paint
clean up some wiring under the hood

What are your reasons for auto instead of manual?
+1 for TLC. Speaking of TLC do you have a post in this thread about maintenance habits? Mainly with fluids? I'm so confused about how to care for the transmission regarding to flush or not to flush. ...
This build just got 10x better!

I've had both.. I just like the ease of an Auto.. and on these Taco's, the Auto is IMO.. the better choice. gas mileage, power (especially paired with the Valve Body upgrade), wheeling with an auto is much easier and less worries than a manual. in the end its all personal preference though. A manual is definitely more fun to drive.

no maintenance posts.. I just kinda do it as I feel fit. I will be topping off fluids this week in preparation for our camping trip this weekend.

Unfortunately yes the auto is way better on the taco... it's sad because like you said, manual is so much fun! But with less mpg comes much lower gears, mainly in 1st and 2nd. I think i calculated it once to be equivalent to the 5at with 4.10 gears. Wouldn't that satisfy your need for low end power? Just putting it out there.

Can the valve body upgrade not be done on the 6mt? Offroad, agreed. If that makes me not a real offroader then so be it!

As many points as there are for the 5at, i just love the thought of shifting through at WOT with a supercharger. But I've never driven anything fast in manual so I don't have a hat in the ring

A regear would restore soem low end power.. but honestly.. I dont feel the NEED for it. maybe down the road.. but with the blower and all the supporting mods.. it goes, WITH decent gas mileage still. a regear would only hurt the little bit of decent gas mileage i have now. lol

valve body upgrade is only available for auto's..

trust me.. its definitely still fun when the auto is slamming through gears, faster than you could shift a manual, in WOT.. its quick and form through every gear.. not a single instance of delay.

yeah I remember those were what you were telling me about. :)
nice man! cant wait to see it!
