I have a person interested in my GTI and I know of a vehicle that I don’t own that would probably suit them better... should I say something or just let him make the decision?

I feel like I would like to know if I was in his shoes. But he is very much an adult. And can make his own decisions and has done his own research.

Moral dilemma over. They bought a different car. Anyone interested in buying a gti??

It doesn’t hurt to suggest anything but I wouldn’t count on changing their mind. Sometimes a person wants what they want whether it suits them or not. If the GTI is for sale, and the price is right, let em have it.

    Do unto others....

If you’re thinking it’s a moral dilemma, then it probably is. Good luck. I’ll bet things will work out one way or another.

If there was a problem with the car I would say something but as far as his choice of car to buy that's his choice.
You liked the car enough to buy it, so does he.

The three answers provided are the three choices I have.

    Do it.
    Don’t do it.
You can do it but it’s Probably alright if you don’t.

Maybe I should add a poll.
Well that’s the thing, I liked it enough to buy it but I wish now that someone had convinced me otherwise. I guess I would have accepted the advice if I was in his shoes either though. It’s a weird one.

Thanks for some insight. I guess as long as it doesn’t seem stupid to suggest either thing, I’m not in such a dilemma. I’ll probably end up suggesting it. If he buys my car then at least I can say i wasn’t hiding knowledge from him. Fortunately the car is in great shape, just a matter of gas mileage.

I'd give him your two cents and offer the sale regardless. Let him take in all the information and make his best decision.

    I miss my ole GTI.

What's the dilemma? If you mean you believe the buyer is better off with a Corolla and not a GTI, then let him/her make their own decisions. If you cleared the check engine light or something like that, then yea, you should tell them.

Fortunately it’s not a matter of my car. I point out every nick, scrape, or dent so that they don’t have to find it later. I’m more speaking of if my car is the best one for them. I know that there are better cars for their driving habits.

If it makes you sleep better at night I say mention the other car to him and let him make his own decision. Chances are he still buys your car and if not I know GTI's don't last long around here, you shouldn't have any trouble selling it.

When I was selling my Cooper S I had a young gal and her father come look and test drive. She was in college, and I honestly told them while they were on the fence about it after the test drive about what to expect owning a used MINI. They were also looking at Corollas and I suggested that would be a better choice.

I have no idea what they bought, but a MINI and being in college = bad financial choice. Plus the nearest service center is 460 miles away

Lol yeah no kidding. Anything but a beater while in college is pretty much a bad choice. But the trick is to remember the feeling next time you want to do something dumb. I’m learning from my very stupid mistake of buying a gti on “good credit” alone every day lol.

Every once and while I go look at GTI's for sale and I have to remind myself that I am gonna have to put money into it lol. They are nice cars, but I have been spoiled by JAP cars. If I had the money, maybe, but I am one of those broke college students. That's why I bought my Taco; it cost more up front, but will be super reliable and retain its value.
