Does anyone have more comfortable seats they've installed in their 1st gen Tacoma? Maybe some kind of pad for the original seats?

Must past 300 miles and I start to shift a bunch in the drivers seat looking to get comfortable

You might try a pair of racing buckets, id check craigslist for something second hand instead of buying new. Most seats can be made to fit in the truck with a simple bracket fabrication.

Check out the MasterCraft seats installed in bayareataco's rig.

    He loves them.

i have a pair of 3rd gen 4runner cloth seats with lumbar and tilt adjust in my truck. I got mine for free, required welding a small steel plate to 1 of the 4 seat mounts to get them to fit in the tacoma. they are not amazing but still a big upgrade over the stock tacoma buckets i had before

i commented about this about a month ago saying how my seat felt very comfortable in my 99 and i couldnt understand why people said the seats hurt their butt but not that im in my 04, the seats do hurt my but after about an hour or so. i think they used firmer foam or something in the 01-04 seats so try a seat cushion from a 96-00 year and i bet its much softer and more comfortable to sit on.

Same here, I used to drive Eugene, OR to Clovis, CA in one shot in my 96 and I would only start to feel it about the 8th hour. Just driving my 01 around town sucks. Maybe the 3rd gen runner seats would be better, Toyota always put nicer shit in the runners. And they are probably a direct bolt in.

you wouldn't need the whole seat, just remove the side covers and there are two 12mm bolts on each sider that hold the seat bottom on. they are all the same exact match so swap the bottoms for one from an earlier truck and your problem is solved and its a lot easier, and cheaper, then swapping the whole seats out.

the only problem I will have is the seats in my 04 are just plain, with no pattern at all, and most earlier seats have a stripe pattern or a muted type of corduroy pattern but they are patterns.

I think it's the whole seat for me. I don't like the back support, rather the lack of, and the bottoms are too hard. The whole seat just sucks. Maybe it's time to get after market ones.

well I have only had the truck for a month now but I haven't noticed anything with the backs yet. I do have a bad back so maybe the stiff back is something that feels good to me or maybe I just haven't had enough time in it yet.

your seat brackets will bolt right onto any 3rd gen 4runner seats so look for those, I think that's 96-00 years

Ya I'll sit in my grandma's 4 runner and see which ones I like better. Maybe I'll spend the monies and get something nicer.

Come to think of it though, my 96 had neoprene seat covers on it. Maybe that's what made them so nice.

definetly get them they are awesome for these trucks. when u first get them it feels a little odd cause you will be sitting a little higher than before, but it goes away and you wont notice it at all,i put mine under my seat covers . they are great for long or short drives, the gel in the cushion absorb all the shocks of the road, trail or whatever else. I guarantee you will love what they do for the comfort of your truck
