the only way your going to get a real increase in power is forced induction...other than that to save money from like a 5k turbo upgrade...then just throw on a AFE stage 2 intake, doug thourley header, upgrade piping on exahust to 2.5" and add a muffler and chop at rear axle, throw on a high-flow cat and re-gear to like 4.56's.

Intake and header only add power truely at high rpms. Re-gearing is the true way to go. Exhaust systems help to release air quicker thats why you upgrade to bigger piping and an exhaust with less bends. Re-gearing helps so our trucks arent sluggish at 2k rpms

I put a magnaflow exhaust with a KNN intake and i noticed a pretty big difference. I was looking at those headers also. Plus the JET mass air flow sensor maybe??

JET makes an after market on that allows 40% more air through that just replaces the stock one. I have heard that it works and its a little under $150.

i thought the air flow sens. just measured the flow without any obstruction?

i talked to jet, was told that the mass air flow sensor. has to do with air regulation. it replaces the factory sensor , that part makes me rather leary, a lot can go wrong if that not right. might consider when warenty is up. unless i hear neg. feed back. for now the power package sound about wright for now unless any better ideas come up?

^ dont buy it waste of money for our trucks, dont buy the urd maf calibrator. member spent the money then spent more money to get it tuned and it was worthless!

Ya and if you look at the thread he posted, he had it tuned from a shop not himself. i dont know whether the shop did a road tune or the dyno, but regardless it was tuned for whatever shit he had put on the truck.

regardless he didnt plug and drive, it was a plug, tune then drive and no happy with results try thing

again greenhorn to tunning, sounds like after my planned mods i need to recalibrate the comp/sens. to my tune job, so much for bolting it on and driving away

I don't think that Higher Octane Premium fuel will make more power in a 2.7 Liter Four Cylinder Engine. Why would it? The 2.7 Liter was designed to run on regular fuel. I see nothing in the owners manual that states premium fuel will make more power. If it did Toyota would brag about it. The higher the octane the harder gasoline is to ignite. Higher octane fuel has less energy per gallon too. If the 2.7 Liter Engine had higher compression or was really carboned up (and pre detonating), then sure, higher octane fuel might make more power. In my opinion running Premium fuel in a 2.7 Liter Tacoma will only serve to lighten your wallet and is a waste of money. Maybe the extra power that you might feel is from less weight of a lighter wallet?

i dont know if it gives any more power but it sure makes it run smoother and when you go up mountain it makes your engine a little quiter the valves rattled a little in mine going up the moutain by my housee when i run 93 they dont near as much but its kinda a little ruffer on your plugs.

    .
id like too get headers and a exhaust but i dont want the bee ina pop can sound . .ne suggestion on what kind to get that stays quite

The header LC engineering has come out with is superior to the doug thorley as far as dyno results go due to the fact that it's all equal-length pipes- this is what I'm planning on putting on mine. Plus, it's the same price and they ship it with the stock gaskets and everything.

^ looked on their site. Where is the proof they are superior to to the doug thorley header? What are the actual power numbers for it?
