Honest question: How often are you actually going WOT in the truck and still feeling the lack of power? Or are you more disappointed in the general sluggish or non-responsive feeling of the truck at part-throttle?

Wish I could LS swap my Tacoma... My other car is LS powered after all, why not both? Or slap that 3UR-FE in from the Tundra/Sequioa, that'd work!

In all reality though, the 2.7L or 3.5L EcoBoost would probably fit in the engine bay just fine and still be good on weight for the Tacoma front end, that would be a beast but it'll never happen. It does make me wonder what Ford will put in the next Ranger though... Could be fun! :burnrubber:

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission? I'd image you wouldn't have this complaint as much with the manual because you'd have more control of where you keep the RPM's. MT's also have better gearing and 4.3 rear end. It's not going to make the truck a sports car, but probably would make a pretty noticeable difference.

Do we put that straight into the gas tank or into the oil?

That would be a very costly endeavor and would require good engine management code to boot. 4.88:1 front and rear gears may be your best option for more "seat-of-the-pants" power right now. An intake and cat back exhaust would give you a small increase in hp at the top of your gears, but don't expect too much.

Top off the transmission fluid is what I'd do!

OP press the gas pedal down farther... get the revs up - it's a V6 it like to rev more for power. 3500 rpms and on up you will feel it.

I figured I would strap it right under my hood scoop.
