You're going to hear a lot more about 2nd gen problems...because 2nd gens WAY outsold first gens...

More people having the same problem = same tiny percentage of owners. There's not a thing wrong with 2nd gens.

Can't vote, I guess. I've had both (02 & 05), and neither had any probems.

haha I somewhat agree with you guys, more complex vehicle will result in more issues. seems like the 2nd gen owners are getting a little sensitive though! ;)

Grey wire MOD, deck plate, diff breather MOD, 2nd gen. OME 883# on Tundra 5100's, OMD custom 3" leafsprings, rear shock relocation, Ivan Stewart TRD rims w/285/75/16's, '02 bumper MOD, Famous Fabrications sliders , LED interior/exterior lights, bed bar, Custom tube bumper, Old school KC day lighters,Red Ring 8" HID flood, Kenwood vhf 2M.. umm some other shit I'm forgetting right now
I don't know what gen out sold the other gen. But I do know alot of guys that had 1st gens. before buying a 2nd gen. & they collectively seem to agree that they love the bigger, plusher, (more bells & whistles) 2nd. gens. ( I agree with this) Although there seems to be some dissapointment with the more numerous TSB's associated with them..( I agree with this also) But most said that overall they were pleased with the more room, features, etc; with the higher end 2nd. gen. but there was a void in their hearts for the 1st. gens. that will never be filled except for getting another one. ( I, lastly agree with this too ) I know the more technology that goes into a vehicle , the higher the failure rate for said items, I get that,

But what I find unexcusable on Toyota's production of 2nd. gens. is right underneath your 2nd gen truck.... go look underneath.... do you see that exposed section of exhaust pipe ??? Just waiting to get pancaked on the next rock you don't see, just a really poor design ... just my .02...

No doubt the Gen 1 was a good truck but I am also pleased to say I couldn't be happier with my 2nd Gen. It's my first pickup and my first Toyota.

Definitely 1st Generation. Just a simple, solid truck that will never let you down.

If you want a glorified piece of plastic that costs way too much money, then buy a 2nd Generation.
