My first two Tacomas a 1995 and 2000 were both bought back by Toyota. First one I bought new, the second one used and both frames rusted out. Three years ago I bought a 2005 four door Tacoma after reading that Toyota fixed the frame rust problem on the 2005 and newer models. Two weeks ago my mechanic said " the rust on your truck is so bad I would sell it while it's still worth something". After buying back the 2000, Toyota made me sign a piece of paper saying I would not turn in any more tacoma's before releasing my check to me. I don't make much money and do not buy these trucks to make money from Toyota. This is my primary mode of transportation, which I use to drive my family around. Will Toyota buy this one back from me? Has anyone had this problem before. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Maybe we should have made Toyota sign a paper saying they would quit building shit-ass frames!

They aren't buying back any more, anyway; they are replacing frames. You can't "waive" your right to a frame replacement based on prior trucks owned by you having been bought back. I mean, logically, if the frame is rusted to the point of replacement, they can't deny your claim just because you had prior frame rust issues. You could theoretically sell your truck and the new owner could file a claim, they'd have to replace it for him; so why not for you?

Clearly you made a serious mistake signing such a document. I suggest that you not buy any more Toyotas.

When did they do this??? Before or after they replaced the frame? If it was before I'd raise holy hell with the Dealer, Corporate and the Web, etc. Then Call a Lawyer with the LSC Docs in hand. If it was after, I'd refuse to pick up the truck and still do the same ....

There is an old saying "Fool me once, shame on you!" Fool me twice, shame on me!" Sorry, but if the first two situations did not open your eyes there is not much anyone can do, I sweep up a little of my Tacoma everyday in the form of rust, I don't think I will be foolish enough to purchase another. jmop

No, No sour grapes, I didn't do my homework, I purchased because of Toyota's stellar reputation, & I do like the truck, one of the nicest looking trucks on the market. however, mine is an "09" less than 30k, sits (for the most part) in a climate controlled garage many would envy, as I said a Great looking truck until one looks underneath, then it looks like it was used as a boat anchor for the "Queen Mary" I had thought Toyota had gotten its act together after the 2000/2005 trucks, but apparently not, they can ride their reputation for awhile, but Ford, Chevy, & the rest are starting to build some nice units, I think there is a Nissan in my future, I am pretty sure mine will soon be on the market. as the public becomes more aware of these rust buckets the resale is going to drop!!! jmop

Toyota just announced yesterday in Connecticut that they will be replacing my 2005 Tacoma frame. Question is what else should I have them replace while they have everything apart??? The dealer is not sure what replacement kit will accompany my frame until it arrives. It could include leaf springs and break lines but the dealer won't know until the frame arrives with the kit. Anyone have any experience with this??

There was guy who tried to buy my bone stock and rusty 2000 Tacoma OR right out of the local Wally's Parking lot. Dude had this sneaky and untwist worthy way of saying "I love your truck so much and I'd like to buy it. I'll give you top KBB value on it". No shittt!!!! Dude new he could have made severally thousands from the Toyota's Buy back program. I declined dude's offer and he walked away disappointed.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread but the rust issue on these truck frames gotta be major $$headaches for Toyota. I have a friend who owned a Toyota pick up that broke in half over a decade ago swore he would never buy a Toyota truck/car ever again. He lives and swears by the quality of his Xplorer these days

Good news. My dealer gave me a loaner for the next 2-3 months while they wait for my frame to come in. Feels better knowing I do not have drive my kids around in what is surely a severely compromised frame.
