Well I have read every post on towing with a Toyota Tacoma and looked at every picture that was posted with what you are towing and now Iam convenced that I can do some towing with my 2011 TRD 4-Door Tacoma with auto Trans. I will not be doing the leaf spring upgrade but may be doing the Air Bag thing.I would like to purchase the proper WT. Distribution Hitch and will be towing at least 5500 Lb. Also any recomendations on Air bags and Distribution Hitch would be a great help

    Thanks TomRR

Do you have the towing package on your taco, if not you will need a trans cooler and don't forget a trailer brake controller. The WDH is rated for tounge wieght and trailer wieght ( I have one size larger than needed incase I load my trailer with extra stuff). I don't use air bags, the WDH is enough. I wouldn't tow over 80% of the GVWR of the truck(6500lbs.) ,less wear and tear on the truck plus more power for mountain roads.

I got the Reese dual cam wt dis hitch. 1200 tounge and 12000 bars. Prodigy P3 brake controller and a 5500# TT. Even without the WDH my taco towed better than my buddies 1500HD RAM. I am impressed by our trucks every day.

Yeah. I also talked to some local trailer places and they said tongue wt can be up to 15%. It's a class IV hitch which are rated at 1000. I think my TT is around 700 now. Once I load it with stuff I will get it weighed all over.
