    Hey TW!

The time has come to do a new projector retrofit for my taco. My first attempt went well but of course has room for improvements. they've lasted about 2 years with no issues but my initial build I had one projector twist just a few degrees when I tightened it down and its always bugged me. Anyways....

Who out there has switch to the MLED and enjoyed it? Is it worth? I've read about both and seen their performance on lightwerkz and TRS but i wanted to get yalls input if I can. I like the convenience with the MLED of not having to replace bulbs again and the instant on, but from what I've seen and read the width just isnt there yet with the MLED. The d2s 5.0 corrected the terrible cutoff of the 4.0 and keeps all the rest of the proven points of the 4.0 and why it's such a good projector. I'm fearful of dropping coin on the MLED and hating it due to poor performance.

Hopefully he can chime in. I'll see if he's done a review of them or posted a real world picture of beam pattern.

We tell all our clients if your headlight can take HID projectors don't go with MLED. We only like using MLED on retrofits that don't allow HID projectors

I've used them all. Here is how I would rank them

    Tuned RX350
    5.0
    Mled
    4.0
    Bi-lens LED
    mini's (h11, d2s, etc)

I choose the Mleds because of the simplicity(less parts) and there was limited space in the quad reto.

Agreed. It’s great having like zero components additionally even if the performance is lower.

Exactly. And having 3 will make up for that:D
Now when it's mentioned "LOWER" performance, it's not super drastic. All lighting has came a long way so it's splitting hairs.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll be going with MLED then. The fewer components and no bulb changes is pretty big bonus.

Did you ever decide on upgrading to the MLED projectors? I'm debating on whether or not to upgrade my Morimoto mini D2S 4.0's to the MLED 2.0's

The headlight guy on youtube did a nice comparison of all the popular projectors. I have decided to go with an LED one but still up in the air between morimoto or profile. Morimoto step is too drastic for me still. At distance it gets pretty significant but their light output numbers are better. So it's a toss up. My new set has been delayed for some time now due to being laid off for so long. Just started a new job and now I'll be spending the next few months playing catch-up on bills. By the time I'm ready there may be more options out there lol my goal is to frankenstein these headlights into something really unique. I would like to rip everything out and replace. Goal is an amber strip for drl and turn signal function. Upgrade the projector that's in it already for the Morimoto or profile projector. Take out the high beam bowl and put in another projector or pod that's a dedicated high beam (probably Morimoto mini hb projector) and delete the turn signal reflector and put in those small rigid sr pods for another aux light. But again who knows when that will be. Almost $900 in parts alone lol and my truck could definitely use a rear high clearance bumper before new lighting.

I ended up going with the Morimoto MLED 2.0 and they completely blow my old Morimoto D2S 4.0 projectors out of the water in terms of brightness, the casted light in the foreground, and projection of light in the distance. I could not believe the difference. The only thing that's annoying is that I'm running a stiff 700lbs spring so it's kind of distracting to see the edges of the cutoff bouncing around in the distance or off of traffic signs.

I am going to be making a set of retrofits for my 2013 with the mled 2.0. I just got the projectors today but it looks like the wiring harness might be missing some thing. Any possibility of you sharing how you wired them to the 2008?

Which wire harness are you missing? The headlights were plug and play to the factory set up

I don’t have the part that goes to the 3 pronged section of my headlight plug looks like this |-| (poor representation I know) is that a splitter or something I’d need?

This should be what you need. It goes from factory headlight (I used driver side) and that will power the harness that plugs into the projectors.
