I think the code is actually on TRS' home page in their scrolling news column. Could be wrong though. I just called them up and told them my username for HIDplanet.

And I would definitely say go Phillips for the bulbs. They look amazing and you won't beat the quality.

Any pictures of the lights from farther away? I love the mini D2S but wish they had a bit more color on the cutoff line like the Mini H1. Still love the look of your retro with the apollo shrouds. Let me know if you have had a chance to take some more pictures at night, kind of curious to see the cutoff from farther away. Thanks.

Where did you mount the ballasts? Did you buy the ballasts with the longer D2s cable?

I mounted mine using double sided 3m tape to the side of the headlight itself. There is a flat spot you can stick it to. Didn't need the longer D2S cables.

Didn't need any longer cables. I just mounted mine where I could find space for them. Bolts, zip ties, and Velcro work well.

Me too, Like Bama_Taco, I mounted mine on the flat spot on the factory head light, using 3-M dual Lock. It's kinda like velcro, but way more badass, it actually snaps in to place, but can be removed if needed. My fog ballasts are on the side of the aluminum bumper mount, and my driving ballasts are on the top of the same bumper mount, all with the Dual-Lock. All three sets of ballast are the digital type, which are a little smaller/thinner.

I would definitely recommend using OEM bulbs, but it is safe to use DDM ballasts though.

yes, provided they don't fail after a few months. avoid any aftermarket bulbs. the quality control is crap. i have some pics from my wrx hid setup and will clearly show the difference in oem vs aftermarket

the bulbs are the only difference in these two pics

So does painting everything black reduce light output at all with HID's? Be kind, I am a HID noob and just trying to learn.... :) Thanks!

    BTW, that looks absolutely sick!

Painting everything black like the picture above has no effect on light output. But this is only true with projector beam HIDs. All of the light is generated within the projector so once it exits the lens of the projector there is no need to reflect the light. This, however, would kill the output of a plug and play HID kit since it relies specifically on the reflector for its output.

Let me add that at night the lights above would look diffent to oncoming traffic than mine since I have a little relfection bouncing off the factory reflector, but the light output is the same.

Can you explain to me what the difference is? Maybe if both shots were at the same distance it would be more obvious to me

also hard to compare because the exposures of the two shots are different. Need to have the same camera settings with both shots.

The Phillips bulbs looks to be sharper and less blury at the cutoff, but that might just be due to the distance.

Differences are also placement of the xenon gas chamber inside the projector. It will cause weird light output and also different extremes of the "blue" above the projector. On top of all that, the width of the output light.

did you use the rubber washer that goes on after the h4 adapter plate and the first lock ring? If I put the rubber washer on, I can only get a few threads on the bulb holder lock ring so i am not sure if that is enough to hold it in. If i remove the rubber washer, I can get many threads on there, but I am worried the vibration might cause the lock ring to come out eventually.
On the shrouds, did you have to trim all the way around or just on the 12 and 6 o'clock positions? I am not sure if the sides will rub without any trimming. I will also be trimming the inner ring where the 4 screws touch and use those points to secure the shroud also.

Great job Kellon. Those turned out really good. You can't beat the output from projectors.

Also, the guys (Nate and Matt) at TRS are awesome. Their customer service is excellent. I will never order parts from anyone except them.
