Ok, I'm a newb to the whole HID replacement thing so maybe you vets can help me out! I definitely would like to upgrade the lights. So to upgrade to HID you can't just plug in these lights you need a full conversion kit? Why is this?

And there's no LED's that fit into our projector housings! If I'm reading this thread correctly.

And is the kit fairly easy to install? I'm no electrical expert but I can follow directions with the best of them.

The ballast is like a transformer for the bulbs easy to do

What is wrong with the stock projector? Why do I need to get a Retrofit from an rx350. Doesn't make sense since the bulb has play and wiggles when driving on bumpy roads. It's like a flag pole since the pole is long and any movement from the base carries the vibration upwards and shakes it. Therefore it the o-rings is not secure enough to give it the stiff to prevent vibration. So after you had a 2016 tacoma headlight testing it you did not see it move or you did not test drive it to see the movement?
I have asked other 2016 tacoma fans on fb and they do not have that problem with other brands.
The best solution is compare morimoto to another brand and filter the problem. Etc bulbs too long. The rod moves?? Or the o rings. Maybe both?

The tech installed the ballasts horizontally. Is this a potential hazard in case of water pooling?

The install guide says not to mount cables up due to water hazard. Is this no longer true?

So not too difficult at all. Just need to find spaces to mount the components in the engine compartment!

I've changed a lot of bulbs (especially in my Mazda Protege that went through them like they were candy) but never installed full kits with ballasts and wires.

Seems like something I can handle!

I'm excited to get these upgrades. I love the lights in the wife's Explorer, which really made me want to upgrade the Tacos lights.

Picked up the full pull. HID Headlights, LED Highbeams and Fogs. It's dark at 5:00pm these days here, these will be a huge improvement!

Install is easy. The best bet for mounting these is honestly the grounding points that are already in place throughout the engine bay. There is one beside the battery that lets you mount it flat against the wall and there's one beside the washer fluid reservoir if I recall correctly. I removed the battery and fluid reservoir to make it easier to install. Use the existing screw and zip tie cables when you're done. Doesn't take long and looks clean. I like to ground the mounting brackets anyhow so this kills two birds with one stone

I'm dropping from 5500k hid down to 4500k to see if they match better. My led fogs are 5500k and they are more of a white. The hid that are 5500 are like an ice white with minimal blue tinge but it makes the Led look almost yellowish like halogen

Very satisfied with how these HID low beam came out! As well with my LED fogs and high beams! 35w 5500k low. Goes wells with the 5k LEDs.

Like you, I purchased the TRS 2016 Tacoma kit including fogs and LED high beams. I think the low beam HID and LED Fogs are a solid win. But it's my opinion that the LED high beams are not matched intensity wise with the HID low beams. They are simply weak. In my drive testing, I didn't find them all that useful.

Take a look at this post by moe2o4 who installed 4500 lumen High beams (in contrast to 3000 in the TRS kit)

Well, you can try to just replace the bulbs with something like a Xenon bulb. IMO those bulbs suck. Since the 2016 Tacoma comes with projectors, and TRS has a 26% off sale, I would highly encourage you to go that route.
