Why were there only two sets sent out for testing? Seems like sending out 25-50 out for that many more opinions would've been better. I was told on an email from trs that there were only 2 sent out for testing.

That sounds odd... especially sense they are trying to find a fix.... you would think they would want the best pool of people to test this problem.

I guess the guy here that has 50% of his problem fixed is one of those 2 sets. Still has a passenger side issue.

Sorry for the delay, I work shift work. And then one of the patient I helped code turned out to have some nasty infection that they didn't tell us about... Guess who got sick...

    Lol.

Providing its not pouring rain I will mount the go pro and go romp down a back California road tonight.

So unfortunately my "old school" GoPro Hero2 isn't clear enough to capture any bouncing adequately, so you'll just have to take my word.

    It
The test grommets I was sent are a very noticeable difference over the one that came with the bulbs. With the new grommets in place, the bulbs are harder to turn in and out, and any wiggle is greatly reduced.

I took the same 30 minute test drive, including a few miles of heavily traveled roads, side roads, and then 'crossed the tracks into farm land' roads.

With the original grommets I noticed a fair amount of bounce, especially from the passenger side. I even noticed if I shifted hard it would bounce. Admittedly I drove the truck hard, running on the shoulder, hitting the soft spots, plastered mud all over the side of my truck, but I wanted to have an adequate test.

I installed the new grommets and did the same drive. On the normal roads, the bounce was significantly cut back, but if you hit a decent bump, I.E manhole cover, etc, that passenger bulb will bounce. Funny, I nailed the rail road tracks (you cross 3 sets, pretty bumper) and no bounce at all. However, I did notice a bounce on some bumps, but not all.

The new grommets have definitely cut back the bounce, but it seems (see above poster) that the passenger side bounce is reluctant to give up.
It now seems to be less predicable, on bumps I expected it to bounce- nothing. On weird sections of road, a slight jiggle.

All in all, I have some of the brightest lights on the road, crisp, clean, and BRIGHT. The bounce, when it does occur, is very quick and doesn't affect the line of sight/output/safety of the vehicle, and I still recommend these products to any and all 2016 Tacomas. For light clarity, brightness, color temperature, and quality of harness/parts I rate 10/10. The bouncing issue is a small quirk, but at this point it's up in the air as to what the cause is, especially since it's mostly isolated to the passenger side.

Hope this helps. Thanks again @TRSAndrew for the group discount back in November, a good product, and the opportunity to test the grommets out.

Thanks for the testers' input on this matter. I just don't understand why the 4300K and 6500K sets have no issues but the 5500K bulbs do. I think I'll just go ahead and install my kit this weekend and see what I get. I'm sure the light output alone will make me happy.

I would guess statistics. I think most people get the 5500K kit, which means there are more of them represented here, which in turn means that more "loose" light housings would be present in that sample set.

Well that could very well be. Their on-site video does say the 5500K kits are by far their best seller. I've had my kit sitting here for a week so shakes or not they're going in. I'll post my results after a week or so of driving.

Im sorry but, knowing that the grommet fix did not 100% fix the bounce is making me stay far away from these bulbs. Until a 100% fix is made of course.

You could get the kit with different bulbs. It seems Only the 5500k color bulbs are having issues, or are the only ones reporting issues. the 4500k bulbs seem to be fine 9 out of 10 complaints are the 5500k bulbs.

But dont the 5500k bulbs match the LED DRLs? I have not seen any pictures about the 4500k and how they match or dont match the DRLs.

Yeah they match great. What you could do, which is what I wish I had done and highly recommend, is buy the 6500k bulbs and go with the 50w rather than the 35w because you lose 1000k with the higher wattage. Then you get the 6500k bulbs, 5500k color and even brighter lights. Really Monday morning quarterbacking myself on this one

Suite yourself. I am not 100% convinced the problem is isolated to the bulbs themselves, being that it is more present on the passenger side over the drivers on two/two trucks tested.

Which wattage is comparable to the stock halogen bulbs? Are the 35 watt roughly the same?

I beleive outkast has done this mod and required him to get fogs, the bezels and a wiring harness. He made his own thread, use the search.

    too many mods to count
I just installed my kit today. I cut a washer for under the orange grommet (I used the grommets from my old bulb) installation with the paper washer made the bulb very tight in the socket.

I just swapped the orange grommets from the stock bulbs to the morimoto. The stock grommets are definitely stiffer. I'll let everyone know if it makes a difference.
