Hey all, first post here and just really have 1 question. The story is is that my current car got totaled a couple weeks ago from some drunk smashing me and now I'm pretty much locked into a 2020 TRD offroad which ive reserved and am prob going to buy Wednesday since I want to finally buy something I truly want.

I have to travel soon for work across country so cant build a car and get it quick and I really want the LED headlights. (LED lights are kinda important since I have an eyesight issue called keratoconus and cant see great at night.) Thing is over the last few weeks of research there's been almost nothing with LED headlights in the area or coming to.

Been looking at the morimoto xb heads with sequential LEDs. The truck im gona get just has standard halogen and from what ive seen there might be a problem with the plug and play they advertise. I think there might be an additional harness needed but kinda confused since I never looked into cars in the last few years since I was gona ride my last Toyota till it died and it was only at 45k.

Any help as to what I would need for a 2020 TRD offroad with standard headlights and upgrading to the morimoto XB's would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The trd off-road already has led daytime running lights so they would be plug and play for you

Welcome! Hopefully you were ok from the accident.

As for the Morimotos, they should be plug and play. The point of confusion I believe is putting the OEM LED headlights in a halogen based truck, that is not plug and play and requires an adapter harness. I’ve not heard of any issues with Morimotos for the 2020. You could always confirm with TRS/ the vendor before ordering though.

I am not a medical expert on Keratoconus, but it does list a symptoms as trouble seeing at night and being very sensitive to light glare. I assume you want LEDs because most assume they are brighter? The XBs are very bright on low beam though their high beam is actually much weaker than the stock halogens. There are good halogen upgrades as well that are nearly as bright in peak intensity as the XBs, so don’t think you have to get LEDs for good light output. Something else to consider is if you are very sensitive to glare and have difficulty seeing at night, LED headlights might make driving in the rain/snow/fog at night actually much more challenging. The short wavelength LED light reflects off the rain/snow/fog back to the driver so you end up really seeing the precipitation in the air and it is more difficult to see beyond it, unlike longer wavelength halogen light. You also get far more glare off of wet roads. Both can be significant challenges for those with night vision issues. Something to consider. You can take a look at my XB performance review below:

There is a harness that just plugs into the fuse box to power the DRL. If you get the Sport, it shouldn't be needed.
