So , I’ve been researching this a lot and I was dead set on upgrading to some oem TRD pro LED models. But everything I’ve read on this thread from the beginning seems to indicate that Morimoto has probably made a superior light to oem.

I do have a question, so the current market model is a 2 Gen model , how far are we from a 3rd Gen model of the XB ?

They just releases the 2nd gen XBs so a 3rd gen xb would be a long ways away (if they even came out with a new version of it)

Copy that. I was under the impression the 2nd Gen had been around for awhile.

I’m trying to find out if there is a reason to go oem instead of these but I can’t think of any.

In the 3rd Gen headlight thread, @crashnburn80 is about to test and review the 2nd Gen XBs. I’d hold off on buying these vs. OEM until that review comes out. I figure the low beams from the 2nd Gen will be amazing but the high beams remain the weak spot on the XBs.

I didn’t know that, from what I read from the Gen 1 to 2nd the low beams were lacking and that issue was appeared to be resolved in the 2nd Gen.

I’ll need to read more about these. Thanks for the heads up.

Stay away from this headlamps, I’m currently having issues with fitting, alignment, and can’t adjust the headlamps and the team is doing absolutely zero to help with the situation

The headlamps "look" pretty good. But the more I hear about it and read from other, it seems that there are issues. I mean not to say everything is perfect. I been meaning to upgrade my headlights as well and prob have come to the conclusion that Id either go oem or prob retro. I'm sure the ones that Meso is retoring can be another option, if getting my hands on 1 would be possible.

The hassle the staff from Morimoto made me go through is what did it for me. And yes they do look good absolutely.
    Functional and quality? Shit.

i most likely will sell the ones I have because I truly got a defective one. Like is super bad.
My stock headlights felt brighter to put it in perespective.
The god damn DRL are brighter!!!!!!!

Do you have some photos outlining your issues? These were on my radar (especially when they announced Gen2) but lately I've been looking at a retro. I can get some pretty spectacular headlights for about half the price if I go retro.

@Eliosanchez93 ^ Yeah, I'll second that. These Morimoto lights are also on my radar. TW had educated me with regards to the quality that is AlphaRex... Now I'm seeing that Morimoto seems to be having problems?
I'm debating Morimoto, Tracking down some TRD Pro head lights, or opening up & blacking out my own (I hate the chrome on my OEM ones).
Same with regards to tail lights - I was looking for the AlphaRex ones, decided against it. Now I'm waiting to see the Morimoto X Meso tails, order TRD pro tails, or open up my own, black them out, and get the lighting kit Meso sells.

I went with OEM Pro tails and I'm very happy with the look.

I'm running these headlights with no issues and it sucks that you are having problems with yours. When I first installed them, I had to adjust them up as the cut-off was extremely low and the lights seem to be very dim, but aftward bringing them up, they are good to go.

I have these headlights on my truck and I don't really have any complaints. Both the low and high beams allow me to see better at night than the stock offroad headlights (halogen?). I usually drive around without the DRL on cause I think it looks better.

How'd you turn off the DRL? Just unplugged them?

My TRD OR has it right there on the OEM light stalk. I just twist it from "auto" to "drl off" setting.

I currently own a set of Gen2 and am overall happy, although they've only been on for about a week.

The only sticking point is that on my SX (SR), it requires the DRL run via add a fuse (DRL is plug-and-play on LED DRL Tacos.) That means the headlights can never be 100% off, since the DRL are tapped into an ignition power source.

The DRL issue is actually what motivated me to trade in the SX for a Sport --since the Sport can come with factory LED DRL, which should mean the XB will function like factory lights.
