Hi all, finally got around to installing some Morimoto taillights, but I’m running into an issue with the fitment. They don’t seem to seat properly in the taillight pocket. I know a bit of force is normal, but compared to reinstalling my OEMs, I had to apply a lot more pressure than I was comfortable with, so I’d figured I’d ask before applying even more. The top fits perfectly fine, it’s the bottom one having issues with. Both mounting clips are there.

It feels like the bottom of the taillight is catching on something (not the harness), which is preventing it from fully sitting in place.

Has anyone experienced this and have any remedies?

Is something behind it preventing it from going in all the way? Too many cables or plugs in the wrong spot?

I thought there might have been but they are pretty tucked in there when I tried placing it in. No matter which way I try to orientate the harness, the same issue happens.

Is that with the top bolt in or out? Maybe try the bottom bolt first and see how the top sits? Other than that, I got nothing. Reach out to Morimoto for assistance? Maybe even a warranty replacement?

It’s with the top bolt out. I actually can’t even get the bottom one in first, else I’d try screwing that in and going from bottom to top.

I’ll try again and triple check everything. If all else fails, I’ll reach out to Morimoto.

    This and that
Man I got so much back there, license plate dir, vled bed light stuff, full c tail conversion harnesses, third brake light harness, probably something I’m missing. But I managed to snap the bottom bolt on my original oem tails with poor wire management.
