Polygamy was instituted at one time because a lot of men were being killed. The only groups that still practice polygamy are the fundamentalist mormons. They are not connected to the LDS church.

I went to college at the University of Utah and had several mormon friends and all I can tell you is they are very friendly, devoted to family, and they keep their city sparkling clean.

It was during the early days of the church. Mobs of persecutors.

Common LDS explanation. False, but easier to explain in order to avoid the whole "polygamy instituted by 'God' through Smith" thing.

I live in the heart of Mormonville. SLC is an unusual place. Not here to bash and I don't intend to but as far as I'm concerned, I can't stand them.

I'd go but I don't drink. My wife goes to clubs with her friends and doesn't drink.

The majority of my friends are Mormon and i love it. I guess mainly because i keep a lot of the same values they do. Mormons are some of the nicest and selfless people you will ever meet and from the years and years i have hung out with them and tagged along to church with them they have never once tried to convert me. It does suck though because all my friends are Mormon and they are all around 20 now and off on there missions so now i lost all my friends for two years lol.

I think being a Mormon is a lifestyle..............basically be Christ like and be very family oriented............they also seem to help those in need as well.................

I've known many Mormons, most are good people some are assholes, the same could be said for any other group of people I've known.

Not suprised at all the misinformation I just read. So i live in Utah, grew up here was not raised Mormon but converted at 13 years old. I dont go to church nor do i follow the faith. I dont personaly care for the religion anymore and to some extent being in Utah which is the LDS mecca of the U.S. puts you at their mercy and that is difficult because the run the freakin state. But on their behalf i will say this, They are misunderstood and people see Missinaries riding their bikes and think they are a cult and have multiple wives. Not true at all so a few facts for those that care. And im really doing this out of boredom not that I give a crap anyways.

1- Pologamy is not a LDS recognized practice. The church doesnt allow it. The FLDS however does.

2- Yes Sundays suck in Utah everything is closed you cant buy booze anywhere, all of our liquor stores are closed and are state run only. There are no private liquor stores in Utah.

3- our beer sucks its 3.2 by volume.

4- Mormons are supposed to pay 10% tithing based on their wages.

5-A full sunday of church is about 4 damn hours.

6- Mormons are not supposed to consume alcohol, hot liquids, tabacco, and they arent supposed to work on sunday. Its considered a day of rest.

7- the average Mormon family has like 6 kids up to about 13 kids. Its ridiculous around here.

8- When people die Mormon or not they like to do whats called baptisms for the dead so wether you like it or not they will try and convert you. They also keep some of the best geneology records known to man.

9- Yes at times it sucks to live in Utah cause there is no seperation of church and state so if you are of another faith you will likely have some objections to the way things are run here. However for outdoor life, offroad, skiing, mountain biking hell anything you want. You can be in the desert in 20 minutes or up a mountain either way you choose. Its one of the coolest places to live for that.

10- Never take a Mormon fishing they will drink all your beer. As long as no one from their ward is watching, or the wife.

And dont tell my wife I wrote this shes Mormon..

    Peace
