OEM TRD OR wheels are the only ones that look "right" to me so far. Still haven't warmed up to the 3rd gen's styling and proportions though.

OEM wheels make the truck look like a grandpa truck...because thats the only people you see with OEMs still on driving around:rofl:. First thing I did when I left the dealer...go order something new to replace the OEM ones.

    To each their own though.

I’m in the minority here on TW, but as a Sport owner, I actually like the factory wheels and have no plans to replace them. The Sport wheels remind me of hot wheels/matchbox wheels which is fine by me!

I guess many of you don't realize we aren't driving a RACE TRUCK
It is a factory truck toyota makes MILLIONS of

I have a camaro that is a drag car. I use wheels that are lighter on it--not so much of a necessity on a god damn factory pick up

Many people on here like to jump on bandwagons and waste money on useless shit.

I don't think any of us think our trucks are race trucks. Not trying to make our trucks faster with new wheels...lol. It's more so that our trucks don't look so hideous anymore.

    Too much.
This is clearly a perception thing.

Everyone has something, some sort of hobby that can be construed as "wasteful money spending". I have a list of crap I waste money on:

    Truck
    Firearms
    Cigars
    Beer
    Remote controlled cars
    Jet Skis

Etc. I'm sure there is something you "waste money on" as well....

I mostly agree with the OP. Toyota did a truly amazing job with the stock wheels on the third Gen, in all of the trims, but especially the TRD Off-road. I do like my Sema TRD wheels though. They are a really nice design, not very “busy”, and give a little more poke without spacers. I mainly changed them out of compulsion to be different, and because in 17” I could get a reasonably lightweight wheel-tire combo while avoiding E-rated tires, and going up one size. I travel long distances in this truck and don’t really want to clod around on 10-ply tires. I have kept my original wheels in case I ever change my mind and go back.

i agree with the OP. The stock off road alloys come to life with almost anything other than the factory rubber. considering the wheel spacers because your rig is super dialed with the stance on point!

Totally wrong man.......many of these trucks are most definitely race trucks.

Mine says so on the bed side. My TRD off-road was “developed for racing” by ‘Toyota Racing Development’. It’s just the facts.

These are the ones I went with. 12mm offset, 4.5" backspacing w 285s.
They have a classic look without the fake beadlock, still flat and stylish, not too crazy so it's easier to clean

And therein lies the rub. The only negative about the stock TRD rims is the offset. Like......do you REALLY wanna run janky spacers??? Of course not! But you want that poke. Darn. There’s no perfect answer.
