I have a 2012 DCSB with a cheap spacer lift or something on it now. Installed by previous owner.

I drive around 30k a year on the road. I need something comfortable. I hit the trails here and there when camping.

No extra weight to speak of. Plate bumper in rear.

I had an OME on my 4runner and loved it, but that was years ago.

I have a pre order in for the All Pro LOLA kit, but I am impatient and they are well back ordered.

I want zero maintenance, smooth ride.

Coilovers or just go OME? Are the dakar leafs super stiff?

I've installed a number of different "kits" and/or brands of lifts for other people. When it came time to do my own, I wanted to end up with a quality ride, good on and off road performance, and NOT spend every last penny I have.

What I did was to use Bilstein 5100's on all corners, fronts set @ 0" with OME 885X coils, a plate spacer to get rid of the lean, (took 1/2" on mine, most level with 1/4" spacer) and Deavers 2"AAL in the rear. It rides better than any 4wd I've ever owned. The AAL carries weight well enough to handle what a Tacoma should be hauling, and the end result LOOKS good. (2-1/2+" front lift, 2" rear) Cost was $733 to my door from Headstrong Offroad.

    Thanks,

I was thinking bilsteins or OME instead of coilovers if there wont be a ride quality difference.

I need full leafs though because mine are well worn at 90k.

Just ordered OME from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Excellent experience. I wish I knew about those folks sooner.

@travistheone yes. So far I had great costumer service. What did you end up getting? I'm still doing a bit more research

I have bilstein 5100s all around, and fronts set at 1.75" with stock springs. 1.25" block in the rear.

Not that it rides bad, but I wish all the time that I would have spent a little extra and done exactly what @Bluegrass Taco said.

@Bluegrass Taco is that only for 4wd set up someone told me the 885 is only for 4wd. Also the spacer. 4 wheel parts sales man said he never heard of that lean that will require a spacer. Is it dramatic? Should I invest in a spacer? Thanks

Starting to do more research on getting a 3" lift as well.

Question: I have 5100's all the way around. The fronts are adjustable (leveled the rake). Can I keep the 5100's, add coils in the front and new leaf pack in the rear and call it a day?

OME 885 coils with the 5100s set at 0. Then an AAL in the rear. A 1/4" front top plate spacer for the drivers side to correct taco lean.

Of course to get good alignment specs you'll probably want new UCAs too. Look into LR UCAs by SPC.

Alignment after front end stuff installed.

Around $1,200ish if you install everything yourself + whatever an alignment costs you. Now call it a day.

Would you recommend 5100 all around even if I don't plan rear lift?

Yeah I would. Definitely a better ride and better quality shocks. Resell your stock ones if they're still worth anything and recoup some of the cost.

@Mjordan thanks for the info. I'm going to try to install them myself I'm not very mechanically inclined but doing the front is enough since I'm on a budget. Btw I'm getting that set up the 5100 and 885x for 365. Is that good?

I'm not the right person to ask about 2wd lifts....No knowledge whatsoever of that subject.

Anyone who's dealt with Tacoma's and lifts will know about the "Taco Lean". You will need some sort of spacer, OR, get used to drivers side being noticeably lower.....

@Tac11 FYI that lean is because the stock coils are side specific and the drivers side one is designed to accommodate for the heavier load which causes the slight lean when aftermarket coils are installed.

Even the stock coils eventually sag on drivers side. I had to have a 1/4" spacer on drivers side with stock coils/shocks to sit level.

So a 1/4 is enough or a 1/2nspacer instead. Is it subjective?

Most people get by with 1/4". In fact, my truck is the only one I know of personally that needed 1/2" spacer to level. Not sure why I'm so lucky, but......Maybe too many Big Mac's....

Prerunner and 4wd have the same suspension, only difference being that you can do a spindle lift on a prerunner and not a 4wd. OME 885 coils will work on both. Now a 5-lug 2wd is an entirely different suspension I believe.
