Nope. I have the Tekton impact socket sets too.

But 95% of my wrenching on the Tacoma doesn't need impacts. Figured I'd help the OP out with a good starter set.

You are less likely to break a bolt with an impact than a wrench due to the shock loading being more likely to break apart the corrosion and spin out. wrench just adds torque and does not jar things loose. My impact saved my ass on all the rusted 12mm bolts in the frame and brake lines.

I have only broken one bolt with an impact, and that was because I was an idiot and did not work the bolt back and forth a few times while removing.

Just get a set. By the time you get 4 or 5 individual sockets, you've spent the same amount.

Might be good advice for the first few sets .

Now I just get the sizes I use the most because it works for me .

I picked the 13 and 15 mm wrenches out of the one drawer I had 25 wrenches it will make it easier to sneak up on the 10mm wrenches

^^^ This. When I first started working on stuff many years ago, I bought the whole S-O set. 1/4" drive, 3/8" drive, fractional, metric, short, deep, medium deep, etc. Years later, 2/3 of them have never been used. Now that I am using my impact gun (one of the best Christmas presents ever. How did I live without one all these years!), I was just looking for individual sockets. I like the protos - made in USA and not even close to the S-O cost.

Here's a dumb question. I don't have an impact gun (yet) but have an impact drill. Sometime I use the impact drill (with impact sockets) to bust free stubborn bolts.

    Is that stupid?

Only if you feel it should be.

Many times I use Impact Sockets on ratchets because it is right there or it is the first one in the right size I see.

I bought a GearWrench impact socket set with everything from 8-21 mm and I have found that I have used damn near every one since purchase.

    YMMV

I was more concerned about using an impact drill vs impact gun/wrench.

I don't see a problem. That is essentially a small impact with a different chuck on the tip, optimized for slightly different applications. The only downside I see using it for wrenching is that it would not generate as much force as a larger impact gun designed for higher torque applications.
