I live in Minnesota. So we do have pretty bad winters. I have had cars with heated mirrors and not heated mirrors and they are nice but I have never had like some major mirror freeze up problem or is it something that accompanies tacomas.

my 01 reg cab 4x4 4 cylinder gets high 20's and pulls hills and all fine! it has minimum rust on the frame. dont bone it by cleaning it weekly( undercarriage) let the salt and debris collect and mid winter and after winter wash it with a good solution... frame rust solved. taco lean is not a big deal if not anal retentive. tacomas are great trucks, but people get so butt hurt over little shit

My 2011 has had ZERO problems that you hear about. No vibrations no brake issues etc.... The only issue I've had/have is the 1500 rpm ping. But with trucks that have 200k plus miles on them im not going to jump up toyotas ass with both feet about it. Super dependable and while mpgs are on the low end they are consistent so at least you know what they are gong to be. Buy a taco if it's what you want and you'll be happy. I'd say 2010 and above have most of the kinks worked out if buying used.

    A little truth here,
If you've got the "Tacoma" fever then they are the best trucks in the world.
Otherwise it's no better that a newer Ford or Chevy.
Hell, new Chevy probably better considering the Taco is a 10 or 14 year old platform.

the silverado is an older platform same as the f- series... the tacomas are selling like crazy because they are the better truck. you can pound them for years and they are reliable. usually people who bash them never owned one or bought a second hand one which had the shit knocked out of it. ask a original owner or new owner.. theres a reason they fly off the dealership and hold value... most guys who complain about thing its usually stupid.. like it hasnt changed in years, or something incredible stupied.

and we own a colorado its a pos. its turning radius far worse then the taco, power sucks compared to it. its ground clearance is a joke. domestic are about looks and bells and whistles.. imports last and have far better drivetrain performance has they age. most domestics are killed.

The thread about the proposed warranty claim on the slightly off angle window seal (that would straighten back out when the window was closed) comes to mind.

As a "new" owner of a "used" truck, my only real complaint is that overall it feels more cheaply put together than I would have hoped for, for a $22,000 investment. I have no doubt it isn't going to fall apart, and is reliable, and I'm not worried or even annoyed with anything about it; but I can't help but draw a reference to my 2010 Honda Civic (a $10,000 cheaper car) and think about how "quality" it feels versus how cheap the Tacoma feels. Seat comfort and quality, the feel and sound when the doors close, the flexing of interior plastics, squeaky clutch, the flawed alignment of interior plastics... nothing I care to deal with, just observations.

Actually, you know what, I do have one weird ass complaint that I can't believe hasn't gotten more press here: the fucking ignition is angled down and I always have to look to put the key in, I can't do it by feel. That, and the key has a rubber head that flexes when you turn it, and that makes me insane. WTF? I had to get a metal key cut to alleviate the OEM head flex.

As a friend of mine would point out: "white people problems". :D

The 4wd actuators are not as reliable as the old fashioned twin sticks, but that is a problem with all makes, from what I gather.

I'm not very rough on my vehicles, but this truck has had a slow power steering fluid leak since I bought it (two years old) in 2010. It's getting pretty bad now. It's so hot in AZ right now, I'm going to have to keep refilling it until the weather cools off a bit. I really don't want to have to replace it myself, but I was quoted $1400  by Bell Road Toyota. I would rather just buy a remanufactured one for $300 and spend a day replacing it myself.

171k miles here, no issues. As mentioned, mpg and gets worse quickly once you upsize tires. Best thing about Tacomas are the resell, I plan on keeping mine for years though.

My truck is 4 years old and the interior still looks good as new. No squeaks or rattles. It is certainly on par with any Honda I have seen.
