    2004 because

    1) it's mine!

    2) it's presumably the "most refined" of the 1st gens before they went and ruined them with the bigger body style.

    3) If you live in the rust belt where they salt the roads, it's whatever year you happen to find where the frame isn't rusted.

    Does anyone else not really dig the 01-04 front end? They feel to me like they shoehorned some curves into a vehicle where they didn't really fit.

    Not to say that my 2000 is a work of art.

    As far as why people like the first gens...it's the size and the functionality. Theyre small but they do alot and they're sturdy. New mid size trucks fall into an uncanny valley of being not as powerful or as big as a full size, but almost as much as a pain in the butt to park. My taco, on the other hand feels like a parking lot ninja.
