My uncle's best friend is a mechanic at a dealership, he says that if a 2014 or 2015 4x4 comes in on a trade, it's instantly purchased by Toyota mechanics. I'd say the '14's & '15's is the most desirable. But I will say that I absolutely hate that there's no ambient air temp reading on my 2014... You have to rely on the Weather.com app, which is horrible and can reach a satellite 90% of the time i'm offroading/camping

    :frusty:

my rope hooks are rusty, and I live in dry non salty central CA. :annoyed:

If you actually use them, there is no escaping them getting a little surface rust unless you're repainting them all the time.

Should we start a thread on rope hooks? I think we should... definitely needs attention... Tacoma owners are needlessly suffering! :D

If you don't use them, it'll probably last forever. But if you use them to strap things down in your bed as intended, it's not going to last that long.

i use basic rope and heavy-duty string, no heavy-duty metal clamps or whatever is needed for securing heavier, taller loads

Let me stop you right there. I don't care about the specs...

you use what you feel doesn't mar your rope hooks.

I'll use what I feel is safe.

sure, but my $5 ratchet straps work well enough because I don't care about scratching my rope hooks, lol

    well that is fine!
I am certainly not forcing you or anyone to care or not to care
    but maybe some do :notsure:
perhaps somebody would like to impress the ladies with sharp looking hooks, did you consider this?

Gentlemen... I think you're 3rd gens are showing... we have to stick together as a cohesive and well rounded and comprehensive group of like minded Best Genners! But seriously.... lets figure this rope hook thing out, could get sketchy... and while we're at it... if you see a dot in your clock... F***ing run!
