I understand it's a truck designed for people who want a smooth quiet ride. But I don't like that the whole truck shakes while driving. I thought at first it was just me, learning how to smoothly shift the truck. But it's been 4 years and when I use the cruise control I can feel the drivetrain flopping around under the truck.

Before I go fill my motor mounts with polyurethane, does anybody else feel as if they have this problem too?

Hm interesting. I do not notice any drivetrain “flopping” when I’m using CC or just general driving. To me it’s pretty smooth.

Is this your first pick up?

Someone on here sells solid motor mounts. Just use those.

Skydvrr: I've welded motor mounts solid before. My ears are still ringing. I prefer to fill the rubber mounts with a mild durometer rubber instead. But I'd prefer to not do anything at all if I can.

Mrtacoman88: Truck before this was a '92 Toyota Pickup 4x4. And I have not experienced this in any other truck between that truck all the way back to my '81 Dodge Ram.

This feels like a broken motor mount in every vehicle I've ever experienced that problem while driving. Dealer says it's normal so now I'm looking into dealing with it myself.

    here's the thread on TW
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-3-5v6-motor-mounts.681377/

i have spent 4 years dialing in my truck to the details, i have accomplished what i set out to do, and these motor mounts are the jewels that pulled it all together. my mission was a perfectly tight zero slop, no-play, highly responsive drive with the suspension, powertrain, and chassis all responding as one. I'm an old guy kart driver at heart... and hands.

these mounts use polyurethane bushes, are smooth as silk, no added noise, perfectly controlled very slight and appropriate vibration , and bring it all to life with an immediacy of power delivery that no Tacoma can achieve without. there is no harshness, excessive vibes or noise. and the difference is not subtle.

I'm in DFW and you are welcome to check it out. any q's are welcome. i would do these again with no hesitation. however, my opinion is that this Tacoma took right to my mod plan, which is an entirely different strategy from any truck I've seen here on TW so far, and it's the whole package that counts which is why i call the mod plan strategic. single standalone mods, especially on the drivetrain, are weak sauce with weak results. so i can't comment how these would work for you with your final truck.

many of us MT folk had the same experience. there are lots of things to deal with if you like the truck and have the resources and patience to deal with all the things. for me, on the drivetrain it was the tune, ADM, a tighter clutch and pedal assembly, and 3+ years of trial & error evolving exhaust work including high flow cats, rear cat delete, and open flow components throughout but that's just the beginning. it was a lot of work and time to get it sorted. i had a love hate relationship with the truck before i just decided to commit to fixing everything and finding what's possible. i overachieved my goal and couldn't be happier, it's damn amazing. but that's just for me, I've had a lot of haters as well. here's a thread for it:
