I have a 6 cyl manual with rusted frame and found a donor that was a 4 cyl auto. I cannot weld but had help moving the transmission cross member and motor perches. The donor perches were bent so I used the DMZ fab perches. I also have the bomb proof motor mounts which I think could have been a mistake because there is no forgiveness with them.

I measured off the old frame and thought I had the motor perches in the right place but they are off.

I had to cut the top of the old motor mounts to add some height and the motor is still sitting on the differential. And for the transmission to sit on its mount correctly I needed to sort of twist the motor so the left side is back on the perch and the right is forward. Also the transmission is 0.25 inch back too far.

My plan is to remove the motor mount spacer, bolt motor mounts directly to motor, cut off the motor perches, and redo it. I was thinking about welding the perches to a plate and then the plate to the frame to make up for the metal I need to cut out. (Not sure if this is needed) But I can hold the motor and try to figure out the motor perch placement.

How much space should I have above the differential? is there any other reference points I can use to make sure they are correct?

When the tacos motors get pulled......the drive train will slide back too far....

so on mine when they put in the new motor they had a heck of time pulling that drive train forward......they worked on it for over a week...

If fact they pulled it so far forward, I had to put in a spacer in the drive shaft to slide it and the tranny forward.....too much of the slip splines were exposed....

    I also had the bombproof's.....

last minute I switched over to oem's and sold the bomb's here on the classifieds...

the bombs will give you frame buzz going down the highway....

however I think the bomb's may be easier on a sketchy installation....

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Both frames are from a 4x4 or Prerunner ??

Just where did you go wrong ?

The difference between your measurements and the fabricators ?

Doing the measuring and the welding myself I have never had a problem.

Nor have I experienced any movement of the drive train.

I would need to look close but I have a few inches of clearance between the oil pan and differential.

Has your oil pan been changed at one time?

My truck is a 6 cylinder 4x4 sr5 manual transmission. Donor frame is a 4x4 4-cylinder automatic. So I needed to move the motor mounts and the transmission mount cross-member. The cross member was easy to measure from the body mount location - . I didnt have measurements for the motor perches so I measured from my old frame and transferred measurements to the donor frame only I must have messed something up. Im going to cut off the perches and redo but looking for some reference or guidance on the redo.

could you get a pic of the right side of the oil pan and the diff tube?

Is your old frame gone? Any way to recheck measurements now and compare to where your current mounts are on the new frame?

Was your frame so far gone things might have moved distorting your measurements .

Get things to hot that the perch twisted from warping .

Just trying to figure out what happened.

maybe. Ill recheck everything this weekend and order the oem mounts. I lost my welder so need to find another one before I move them. If my transmission mount still looks good, ill position the motor perches so that the transmission lines up and the motor is at least an inch(?) off the diff tube.

I must have purchased the wrong bomb proof mounts, Got the OEM mounts in and they were longer and lifted the motor up - enough that I can slide my hand between the diff and oil pan. Turns out one perch was a little off so I sloted the holes on one side and the transmission mount, on one side, was a little off. so i slotted those holes a little and everything went together okay.
