Drive my truck into town at 10 am then home by 10:30. At about 3:00 I went back out to start my truck and heard a humming motor sound coming from under truck by gas tank while truck was still off?? Is there something that could be running at this point so long after I turned it off? Fuel pump? It is about 35 degrees out. Def. a noise coming from that part of truck

Its normal. If I remember correctly its an EVAP pump or something to do with emissions or vapors. Either way, nothing to worry about.

I have the same sound coming from underneath my 2016 RX350 and I'm pretty sure we have the same motor. I wondered what it was 'till now-I knew it wasn't the fans. Sounds like a small motor.

Fuel pump I believe. It's in the manual.

But why would it be running almost 5hrs after turning truck off?

It's in the owners manual if you want exact info but from memory it's an emissions device clearing fumes.

I just heard the same sound coming from mine when I walked in the garage a few minutes ago. Turned the truck on except the engine, then back off, and the humming stopped. It had been 7 hours since I last drove it.

I just heard this sound today as well. Thought my neighbor was doing something across the street.
    Went out and looked. Nope.
Came back inside. Crawled under my truck and that's where it was coming from

Had the same sound coming from my truck last night. Though it might be the fuel pump. I’ve had my truck for about 2 months it a 2019 never heard that sound.

Hey, does anybody know how to disable this feature, or to create a condition where this check does not occur? -- I go car camping a lot, and I sleep in the truck bed in a camper shell. This stupid goddamn fuel evap check always kicks on in the middle of the night and wakes me up. I would LOVE to be able to disable this thing so it doesn't kick on and wake me up in the middle of the night. -- 2014 4 cyl 2.7 --- P.S. I live in Utah, no state inspection here, so I'm not concerned about passing/failing emissions inspection.

This happened to me last night, and it royally freaked me out. Sleeping in truck bed in the middle of nowhere with no cell service - suddenly woken by pump sound at 4am. Checked the cab and engine, then rummaged thru all my stuff trying to find source that seemed to be from under the bed. Even checked the manual by flashlight but wasn't able to find info. Spent the rest of the night wondering if my truck would get me home. Pretty annoying.
