Adding new picture before I forget, can remove if grab is denied.

New pic - bike next to any mural / graffiti, preferably not just a basic tag - but if it drags out then we can go with it.

A mural.....Hmmmm. I only photographed over 1000 of them last year. Here's a nice one:

Drop: I figure at this time of year pumpkins shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Alright. Here’s your pumpkins :anonymous:

    IMG_2074.jpg

And assuming Chuck doesn’t fight me on it ;) next up is a little different than normal. Show me a pic of you doing some kind of repair or maintenance on your bike. Today I replaced some seals on a manual cam chain tensioner. $8.99 for almost 400 o-rings from harbor freight saved me a lot of money vs buying a new CCT.

Fine......I'll accept it to get this moving. BTW, be careful with those Harbor Freight o-rings. They're sizing is often inaccurate. I helped a friend with a set of carbs on a Honda CB350/4 with that issue. The HF o-rings were not the exact size so the fuel crossover tubes kept leaking. I sent him some correct metric o-rings from where I work. You're better off looking for a hydraulic cylinder repair shop nearby, they'll have what you need and higher quality.

They sell it as a metric set, but yeah, they were close enough for this use. No oil coming out yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I'm trading the bike on Friday and didn't want to show up with an oil leak, y'know. Correct part from BMW is about $250, alibaba replacement is about $30. I figure if it leaks on him in the future he has options. He's also trading me his bike with a countershaft leak, so I don't feel too bad about it haha

BMW does think their parts are made of gold don't they? Several years back a coworker had a K1100LT, I think a 2005? It had the hydro-electric center stand where with the push of a button the bike would pick itself up onto the center stand while you remained seated on it. It started to leak so he looked into having it fixed. BMW considered it a non serviceable part and wanted you to replace the entire unit at around $1200 plus labor to install it.
We work for a hydraulic cylinder repair shop, how complicated can this thing really be? We yanked the whole affair with the bike on stands which included the small motor to operate the hydraulic pump. We found a BMW forum where a member had already repaired one and got seal information from him. Tore the whole thing apart and ordered a length of metric stainless steel to fabricate a new shaft as the OE was pitted and rusty, and replacement seals. One of our machinists threaded the ends of the rod for us and we rebuilt the cylinder and tested it. Total cost for parts was under $50 and our total time wrapped up in it was under 2 hours including r&r on the bike.

EDIT: Not sure how I posted this in this thread.....Oh well....

When I was an Admin and Mod on the Adventure Rider Forum we put together a 3 day desert riding class for a group of us. Jimmy Lewis, one of our Dakar racers taught the class. We met at Primm Nevada.

Some skill training, learning our limits on down hils

    IMG_7245.jpg

Some fun racing, my 640 Adventure won that heat, even beating the 950. The drill was to cover the distance and stop the quickest at your designated cone without passing it. What a blast that was

    IMG_7242.jpg

Here is a shot of Jimmy demonstrating how to get over a log on his 950

Guess I'll get this moving again...

here's my repair after getting to the track. Dummy that I am strapped it down wrong and broke a couple clips.

Assuming that works, next pic is a pic of your bike and your 4 wheeled vehicle together. Should be easy enough for you winter folks, hopefully no one in here is only on bikes.
