Can't go wrong with either! Brought mine in for a tune up and was admiring that R nineT. Wicked bike but too much $$$ for me!

I got the Ninja reassembled and it starts and idles like a dream now!

All four exhaust valves were super tight. I got them back into spec and it sounds like a different engine now. Very smooth and no more full choke + throttle to keep it alive on a cold start.

Definitely. I just finished getting it set up for my taste. Repaired & repainted the front cowl, fender and skid plate, installed new supermoto pegs, cleaned up the handle bar setup, installed new tires, and did a full tune up/ clean. Just need to install the black bolt kit I got off ebay.

I rode both the R nine T and cafe racer when deciding which to buy.

The R nine T is a very smooth, well engineered bike. The boxer engine requires some acclimation, but doing so is easy enough. It's comfortable, packed with features and technology, easily modified, and BMW has been kind enough to provide various models to satisfy the tastes of a wide range of rider. The power is awesome. It's a fucking great bike, no if, and, or but about it.

The Scrambler is anything but. Cheaper yes, but Ducati has done the typical Italian bait and switch: (much) cheaper materials are used on the Scrambler line than on regular Ducatis in order to keep the overall price point attractive for the intended customer and margins huge. The Scrambler's ABS brakes are confidence inspiring, the styling is atheistically pleasing, and the L-twin has enough grunt to quickly accelerate and prevent the rider from becoming someone's hood ornament.

So you're probably expecting me to say that I bought the R nine T.

    Nope.

    I bought the Cafe Racer.

    Why?

The R nine T is sterile. Zero personality. It's the bike a German accountant in mid life crisis would buy to ride to work. It's safe. It does it's job of getting to point A to point B superbly, but with no character. It's an expressionless tool. It's like sex only in the missionary position. No zen.

The Scrambler is Italian. You will enjoy the love/not-so-love relationship. It has character, personality, zest. First gear can get the front wheel off the ground. Ride it and you'll want to wear shmedium shirts with the buttons opened to mid chest or lower. It'll pucker you up just to get your heart racing and the blood flowing, but never so much to let you down. Park somewhere, and passer-byers will stop and look. They'll see the Ducati badge, the orgasmic curves of the bike, and then see you with your long Italian hair and unbuttoned shirt. Panties will drop. Women will swoon and men will faint.

    100% legit. Scrambler.

Oy! Cannot attest to any of the reactions described in those last two lines but to all of the rest; excellence!

I would add that it's easy to ride and for a first time bike owner I adore the safety features of the Scrambler, in particular, I love the slipper clutch! I have got the lower bars and heated grips on mine. I would recommend both of these mods but I think there are many more options avail now.

    What’s the purpose of a Slingshot?? :anonymous::crapstorm:

It’s a legitimate question. I’m not trying to stir shit up. :D

Is it a car? It ain’t a motorcycle! :notsure:

I swear to god I could have put my CT90 together from scratch faster than I could this thing. Took me four hours and I’m on beer 5. Air quality is in the 500’s here thanks to the wildfires every where around us so real bikes are out of the question this weekend :(

It's definitely easy to ride, and there is a certain irreplaceable magic about riding a "slow" bike fast.

Didn't know about that model coming with a slipper clutch though. I'm impressed.
