It's easier to eat a donut with an open faced helmet... lol. I'm jk. It may have to do with visibility, mobility and ease of communication.

I've had a bunch of different brands of foam plugs at work and honeywell/howard leight max lights are the best imo. Their nrr is a little less than most foam plugs because they aren't as dense, but that means they are easier to compress and don't spring back into place as quick. You have to hold them in place while you feel them expanding too, can't just compress and stuff them in

Easier to communicate with people without having to take it off. I’m sure there are individual department policies in place as well but best I can figure is they’d have to yell all the time if they had a full face helmet. I’ve seen a few around here that wear the flip up hybrid helmets but not many.

I always feel like as the foam expands it essentially feels like it's pushing itself out of my ear canal.

I've found it helps a lot if I take one hand and reach over the top of my head to kind of pull up on the top of my ear lobe and hold it as I insert the rolled up plug into my ear then slowly release tension on my lobe to let the plug expand. Awkward until you get used to it but for me it allows a better fit and more noise reduction. Not trying to patronize on something as simple as putting in ear plugs mind you but I had someone with a hearing protection group show me this and found it does help.

I tried that too, since the vide I watched for the plugs I have coming recommended this method for their plugs as well. I honestly feel like an idiot for not being able to use foam. That's why I hope these take the pain out of the process.

Been out of the game for a while, back in the day krazy kyle and Jorian Ponomareff were some of the riders killing it. I don't even follow the lifestyle much anymore.

It turned out really nice. The paint he used matches the coating of my engine. I love it.
