That's funny, I was checking it out too. Crazy it's the same price as the T700. Must be that aluminum frame.

Go check the bikes out in person. Sit on them, get a feel for riding position. Figure out what you prefer and then look for a good deal.

I just can’t get over how ugly the klr650’s are. They are so big and bulky.

    Alright boys (and girls?)

Looks like it's going to be ~5k to upgrade from my speed triple to an FZ10.

Pros: yamaha dealer is 70 miles so much easier to get parts willy nilly or have them work on it if I don't want to. Triumph is like 200+ miles. It SHOULD power wheelie. I get cruise control and ability to add autoblipper easily. It's significantly faster than speedy.

Cons: $5k gone, I think its kinda ugly, probably worse fuel range. Insurance is going to go up in all likelihood.

What should I do.......? Hold off til spring? Just do it? Enjoy speedy and quit lusting after better stuff?

Yeah, I haven't sat on either the KLR of KLX yet. Now that I see one at a local dealer I can go check them out.

Haven't yet but will soon lol let's hope I don't die. I have heard that once they are properly broken in they grip just fine on dry pavement. Not sure on wet though. Either way my ride to the trails is all flat and straight, so not worried about running aggressive dirt tires. Might feel scattery at 80 mph though.

IMO I think it's a well proportioned bike. The tires appear to be more robust than some. I think that's a plus for me. The front fender is very high, wider than some and has that effective bend. I like the all blacked out look with the camo pattern version. It has the hint of Kawasaki green. I actually like the shape of the cockpit. Especially the traditional fuel fill location. It has a bottom and a top chain guard. I like that a lot too, and the real passenger footpegs. The turn signals appear to be very visible from the side. It has a very substantial skid plate, and it's metal. It comes standard with the rear luggage rack.

Is it bulky? Yes. Is it heavier than most? Yes. Is it a rocket? No. Maybe that's why I like it so much. All these adjectives describe me. :D

Oh, and the the only manufacturer option I could see me adding is the extended windshield. Would I consider the T700 over this for the right price? Absolutely.

Funny, after I asked I checked out the Kawasaki website and there is a form you can fill out for a test ride.

I would just like to get on one and go around the block. To feel the power, or lack thereof. If I can sit on them and get at least the ball of my foot down on both sides I would feel confident. Full foot would be even better.

Well, you have my respect. Those are the most aggressive dual sport tires I have ever seen. The look like something you'd use at a ski resort!
