Well it’s now been 3 weeks since I last spoke to the dmv. Still no plates. This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. And of course I can’t get a call through today because they’re “experiencing a high volume of calls at this time” what a fucking joke of a government run program.

Not to take away from your situation, but the 10th of Nov is 60 days for me sending money just to change from one style plate to another. The best part is, the 6 times I've talked to them I have been assured they are gonna make it to me.

There’s a very small chance this thing could be running today. This is going way too well so far haha

    42E638AE-3CBA-4236-BF80-BA7A9F42B2C6.jpg

Edit: just so y'all don't think it's going perfect heres my issues so far:

    - had to drill out the engine top mount to fit the honda engine mount bolt
    - the bottom engine mount adapters I got don't quite line up, I still need to bend them
    - the footpeg bracket needs to be spaced away from the engine some more to clear it, guess that's what I get when all the foot peg bars are so generically made for these
    - I need to drill and tap the brake pedal for a bolt so I can make it an adjustable stop and space it down further, it currently hits the pegs and/or engine
    - chinese engine is missing a few bolts, specifically for the sprocket cover and no hardware for the exhaust studs. Not a big deal.
    - the Honda stock CT90 exhaust is not going to fit without some cutting on the pipe and on the flange, so I'm going with the $35 ebay exhaust for now to get it running
    - the skid plate I'm PRETTY sure will fit, but I need to redrill some holes to match the new bottom mounting spacing. Debating just going with a chinese Amazon skid plate though, they're like $12 for an aluminum one.
    - the carb BARELY fits, like, 1/4" clearance max.
    - Oh, and the petcock I got is the wrong size, too large of barbs for the tubing. Hoping I can find a "y" or "t" and an inline lawn mower one at the store today until I can source something more proper.

About to take a lunch break and run to the hardware store. I'll let you know the afternoon progress later on haha

Tires for the ATC came in today. I ordered them last night. That was fast.

Can’t wait to see it completed. With those rear shocks you could do some serious Evel Knievel shit. ;)

    Yes, yes they do!
I did, CA to WV in July. Now, in June or July 21 I’ll move to the DC area for another job I’ve been assigned to.

I’ve done a bit of traveling in the soon to be 24 years in. CA to Kodiak, AK to CA, CA to VA, VA to WA, WA to CA, CA to VA, VA to CA, CA to WV and now WV to DCish.

Probably one of the few in the mil that joined to get away from home and actually followed through with it.

Geeeeez. What is up with your DMVs? It sounds like complete incompetence if you ask me. It literally took me less than 2 hours to get my DRZ inspected and plated. I walked into my local DMV plate agency, paid for a temp plate, rode the bike to the shop to get inspected, went back to the DMV and traded the temp tag for a perm plate. Most of the 2 hours was spent on the road and at the shop. I may have waited in line for 10 minutes at the DMV.

So here is where I left off tonight:

Engine is in, engine mounts are done, pegs are done, rear brake is modified, carb and fuel lines are ran (temporarily, at least), temporary exhaust is on and bolted up. Hopefully Sunday I'll get to do the electrical portion, which is basically plug and play aside from changing out the start/stop/starter cluster and extending the battery wires so I can put the battery on the back rack. The front sprocket on this ended up being a couple inches further forward than the Honda's was, so I need to order up a new chain, big bummer.

Way more got done than I thought I'd do today.

Look how lucky I got with where the carb is :bananadance:

California doesn’t know how to do anything right except legal weed. At this point they’re probably 3 months behind on mail processing. If you go to a dmv, you best be there 2 hours at least before it opens to be first 5 in line otherwise you’ll be there an entire day.

Looks really lame. Go ahead and finish the rest of it then sell it to me to save yourself the embarrassment of it.

So awesome. Love the carb setup, looks factory designed. :) You’ve done good Grasshopper.

I wonder if the intake will vibrate and touch the frame while running.
