Today is the first day in a while we haven't had new snow. Warmed up to a balmy 37 and rained so most everything melted. Scooted into work for a couple hours and just got back home, pretty boring ride overall, but I did have a moment of clarity and pure joy rolling on the throttle once a slow poke in front of me got out of the way, I love my exhaust note :D

I realized today that I haven’t ridden in a while. My neighbor actually asked me if I got rid of the bike because he hadn’t heard it in a while.
    :(

Been swamped with orders for sliders and haven’t made time for myself. Weather has been beautiful here too.

I think it went on the swingarm, and not on the rear axle. The stand looked flimsy too.

    Good point!

I’m a cheap bastard when it comes to cleaning my chain. I use toothbrushes from the dollar store with a small pan filled with kerosene, then I coat it with chain wax. It seems to work pretty well!

I always liked chain wax for my chains. Goes on nice and doesn't seem to throw off as much. When I had my FJ1100 I think I got almost 30k out of the last chain and sprockets I put on.

with all the high mile riders you know and from all your high mile rides, any opinions on those auto lube chain gizmos??
some guys love them it seems, but the idea of something dripping oil like that freaks me out (ive never/used had one)

Most of the hardcore LD riders are on shaft or belt driven bikes now but there are still a few riders with chains. I know one rider who did the IBR on a Honda NC700X who used a chain oiler and loved it. I think the model he used tied in somehow to his GPS or might have even had some form of internal GPS that allowed hm to have it dispense very limited amounts of lube every couple of miles so it kept just enough lube on the chain without the normal mess. I think he made one chain adjustment at one of the 2 checkpoints and if I recall correctly he finished the event with just under 10k miles in the 11 days.

A former coworker from my dealership days was a rep for Scott Oilers for a couple of years and spoke highly of them even before and since working for them. I've never run one myself but my only current bike with a chain is my vintage Honda CB400F and that doesn't get enough miles per year to need anything like that.
