Great day of riding! 152 miles of sunny 63 degrees! :yay:

Small pucker moment when some asshole on a 2-way decided to pass literally without seeing my happy ass! :annoyed: Luckily it was far enough out I was able to roll off throttle and pull onto the shoulder! That whole “ride like no one sees you” rang true today!

Get out and ride safely y’all! :bikewheelie2:

Man, everyone getting that itch for new season bike. I’m looking around for an old 70s 2 stroke Kawasaki. Gonna send my last scooter off to a new owner to make room.

Took the grom out for a spin over the weekend, cruised behind a Ferrari 488. No big deal keeping up with a Ferrari on the hog.

Speaking of scooters.....saw a dude on a scooter looking mighty apprehensive with a ton of cars behind him. Reminded me of myself when I started taking more traveled roads at speed. :D

Hit him with the wave and hoped for the best for him. :bikewheelie:

Nothing taught me lane position and defensive riding like delivering pizza on a 50cc scooter. Amazing how much better a rider I had to be when I couldn’t out run or brake anything, and I couldn’t climb the steepest hill in town.

Funny you mention lane position. After the pucker moment today, I kept wondering if my lane position was wrong. I was riding in lane 1 of 3 left to right....which is where I normally ride along on most roads. Perhaps a more 2-3 lane position would’ve made me more visible? :notsure: But no one was in front or behind me period. So I just think they didn’t see me. Period.

I always think lane position as position within the lane. Driver tire, center, passenger tire. So, slow bike always driver tire right lane. Give them a lane to pass on the left but make sure they know that you are taking the whole lane of the right, then close calls have a right hand exit into right lane passenger tire. I tend to ride on peoples right because the mirror on the right is often better angled to see you, and they can see more over than shoulder when they do look. When I ride behind in single lane, I move right and left gradually to make sure they notice me in mirrors. I check their mirrors for my head light reflection. I also run a yellow head light to stand out.

I'm using the bed like a normal person for niw but might be cool to get a hard shell cap and carry the bike. Or take a quad for a friend and the bike on the rack.

A fat cat! I watched a friend try riding for the first time on one of those in high school. She took it across the yard and into a row of pine trees. It was like watching the inevitable happen in slow motion.
