They did it so the plastics can be removed easily and swapped or painted/wrapped. I get it but meh.
The SP is supposed to be a super cheap upgrade too and the only model with no ABS option.

ABS is good and bad. Bad for bleeding brakes and offroad, good for new riders or when youre in a dangerous situation.

Already thinking about my next bike - used, cheaper, no ABS

It's not that I didn't like it, I just felt like it's a bit limiting. Situations where I wanted to pop the clutch to get the front wheel up it would make nasty grindy noises. Coming from using a clutch all my life to that, made me want to go back. It was great for my first season back in the dirt to get used to body position/gearing etc but I want to learn more clutch work in the dirt again.

Bikes getting new shoes on Friday. I’ve got tread left on the Michelin Anakee Adventure tires but the rear is getting close to the wear indicator. Got 10k out of these tires which isn’t bad at all for them.

Found that when I got to work this morning. Trouble is, I don’t think they make those tires anymore. I guess that FORCES me to upgrade to better tires.... and paint the wheels, they are looking like shit.

Anyone ever run KENDA RetroActive tires?

I've had two sets of Kendas (K761 and K673) in the last couple of years. They're as good as any tire I had in the '80s.

I have the k761s on my scrambler. I like them. It’s just though finding non Harley tires for 16 inch wheels.

The K761s were better than the K673s, but the rear tire wore out at 3500 miles and the front barely looked used. The K673s were just rock hard even when riding in 100 degree weather and were squirrely in the curves. But, remembering tires when I started riding in the 80s, the Kendas are as good as anything I remember using then. I'd just hate to have them as my only option.

Kenda 270 is a great dual sport tire for $40. Running them on the XR650R for now. Last longer than most, but still not long with the 650 lol

Those bikes were a whole lot of fun to ride. Only real complaint was the heat from the rear cylinder would just cook your right thigh after about 20-30 minutes or anytime you got stuck in traffic. I used to work for the dealership where I had bought my 95 S-2 and on a few occasions would lead demo rides on some of the Buells. I would ride whatever no one signed up wanting to ride so I had plenty of miles on all the Buell product from that era.

All this tire talk. I am going to hold off on the exhaust and pickup a set of street/track tires instead. Really is amazing how many track oriented tires there are for groms/scooters.
