Took a little scoot around town, beautiful day out! Saw quite a few riders. Some younger kid was admiring my bike at a light, he was funny.

Red light came on the speedo....pulled over and googled which said it’s electrical issues...shit. So I pull up the DTC on the FuelPak, and it had a shit ton of codes, turn signals, headlight, brake light, etc. wtf?!! I did my usual preride today, all was good.

So in the parking lot I do it again....turn signals, check, hi/lo beam, check, brake lights, che....hold on! Brake lights are stuck on... So I fiddle with the brake lever and if I push forward on it a micro smidge they go off. So I cut the day short and came home, don’t need the lights acting up!

So I guess I’ll fiddle with the right side lever housing and it’s internals. Any other ideas??

    Ride safe y’all! :bikewheelie:

Since you just swapped bars sometimes the CEL will come on if you didn’t disconnect the battery while doing the install. If you swapped to LEDs the codes will stay unless you add a resistor. They don’t always clear by themselves so you can clear them and see if they come back. the brake lever switch is a separate issue, you can double check your tension on the cable and remove the lever and make sure the switch isn’t binding on anything. You can add a small dab of grease to keep it working properly too. Look up some videos, that brake light switch behind the lever can be tricky for some people.

Kinda want one of those. Had highway pegs but didn’t like the way they looked. A straight bar across like that would look much better.

Was everything fine on the ride home? If so, I wouldn’t fiddle with it too much. Probably just some gunk on the hinge or the contact switch or something.

So the ride was fine, everything functioning....except the brake lights apparently. So I opened up the right side switch housing. While re-installing, I didn't do a good enough job of tucking in the signal wire and it was sort of pinched between the main bracket and switch housing if you will, I guess causing some wiggle. Pulled a little more slack thru and tucked it into the groove that's cut into the bottom. Checked the little brake switch thingy and reinstalled the switch housing. Fiddling with it in the garage seems like everything is good again. Cleared the codes and we'll see what happens next time out.

How did you like the crash bars? I do have a set of forwards I may install but still considering the crash bars.

I like! Have that option to stretch out a little while riding. Felt a hair strange at first, just gotta get used to it. Never had any forward controls or highway pegs. I like the simplicity of it. I was debating forwards, but I've grown used to the mids.

Driving home from seeing my Dad for his birthday, first time seeing him since last summer, I watched a guy on an Fz07 come into a sweeper a little hot, grab some brakes and stand up his bike. He went wide into the ditch high sided at about 30mph. Lucky this was rural-ish Kansas and the ditch was full of tall grass and soft ground. He rolled a bit and when I got to him, he was already talking about how his wife was going to make him sell the bike for sure. Turns out, she was on of the paramedics in town, and she was pissed when she showed up. He was fine, but took a ride to make sure. Bike is rebuildable. He was wearing helmet and some gear, so it could have gone way worse.

Stay safe everyone, don’t forget your rider training when you get into bad situation.

Crash bars are awesome - I use them now to work on the bike sometimes, easier than putting it on a lift - and it is great to rest your feet on but still have superior performing mid controls for when you are the tight stuff. Always hated the flying pap smear chair look lol

Oof. Reason not to push limits on the street.

I don’t know how much he was pushing the limit and how much was freeze up and panic stop when he found the turn just a bit tighter than he expected. But I agree, too many variables to push for speed on the street, take that to the track and get your education.

Got this supermoto a few weeks back for a crazy stupid deal. First time taking it out today. Pleasantly surprised on the setup. Needs a few tweaks to be perfect but nothing much. IMG_20210321_162806_255.jpg
