    Hows Triumph reliability these days?

I usually hate Euro bikes and stick to Japanese and a few American but the new Tiger 850 Sport looks pretty spot on for someone stuck between a WeeStrom and a T7.

The paint and styling oddly enough remind me of the Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 (beautiful bikes).

Also, anyone ridden the new Chief lineup yet? Starting to see them delivered. Pretty entertaining to see HD swirl the bowl haha hopefully the competition is a decent enough defibrillator for them...

Looks very similar to the Scout and in fact at first glance I thought that's what it was.

My 2012 Triumph has so far needed a front brake light switch...and...that's it! Can't speak for up to the minute unfortunately.

Really? Huh. With the normal tank and no fat front tire? Or radiator? Interesting.

Would have been cool if they dropped the 108 from the Challenger into it rather than the 116 Thunderstroke.

That’s what I’m finding in research. More reliable than I had given them credit for. Too bad there aren’t any places near me that stock them or I’d be on a test ride today!

I should specify that it is a 675 Street Triple. I bought it new.

In one very specific metric, according to F9, adequate to good. They took first oil change samples to a lab to measure metals, solids, etc. The thought being that more wear in the beginning is an indicator of looser tolerances, poorer build quality, lower quality parts, yada yada.

Particles in the 100ml oil samples above 5 micrometers

Ive been considering a VStrom for all the highway miles we do or a Tenere 700 for the fact that we go off pavement a ton and didn’t want to choose between them. Plus I have a 30” inseam on a good day and that’s fine riding alone but once the wife is on the bike the higher the bike the more precarious. Changes the whole dynamic for me.

This Tiger 850 is the first Tiger I’ve seen that actually looks good haha and it seems to off road and on road better than both of the above bikes weaknesses. I also dig that it deletes all the crap from the 900 I wouldn’t be interested in and tunes the engine down to be more consistent in the low and mid range. I don’t like high revving sport bikes. I like a good consistent pull of power throughout. I leaned to wheelie on a Dual Sport with consistent low end grunt. Tried it again later on a higher revving machine and almost died when the power suddenly twitched from on to REALLY ON haha. I need to test ride, but after the “next bike fund” is replenished the Tiger 850 Sport may be my next next bike (just got the wife a Grom and am trying out my first cruiser after 15 years on dual sports to see if I like it or not). ✌

Pretty broad brush they are using if the 'quality' of a motorbike is determined by the oil that comes out. Big story here is BMW hosing Honda? Wow. Royal Enfield? Who knew? I'd love to see the reaction of a Ducati engineer when presented with this! lol

Surprised to see Yamaha so low and RE and KTM so high.

Looking at major mechanical failure statistics compared to the isn’t always the same story but that’s great data to have. Thanks.

If I had to go over again...I may have ended up with a Tiger. At the time, I wanted nothing to do with off road on a motorbike. Last year...I bought a dirt bike. :anonymous:

No regrets on the ST3 though. What a bike! I somehow managed to buy a 'one of the greats' without realizing it at the time. I have been considering selling it though. It sits way too much now.
