Got the front tire swapped. I am more excited about these tires than I was with the knobbies and I was pretty excited about those.

Has anyone tried the new Battlecruise tires from Bridgestone yet. Reviews on heavy bikes looks positive.

Did you do them yourself? I hated doing them, such a small wheel and tire to try to hold and use for leverage

Yeah, it’s not terrible just takes time. Did the front in an hour taking my time. New ones are a lot stiffer than the knobbies. I may or may not have been looking into the harbor freight tire changer this morning.

The spoons take longer but like you there really isn’t a need at this time. Now if I get into track days and need to swap tires every 3-5 track days then yeah it will be worth it.

I dont think you could wear a grom tire out even that fast, lol. I didnt have any noticeable wear on mine. Its just too slow of a bike, ha

I bought my Nomar tire changer last summer around July 4th. They had some promo/sale going on that finally convinced me it would be worth it. With 3 bikes and plenty of friends that ride when i weighed the costs of having someone else do my tires, the travel to and from a shop, the fact that most shops near me won't remount a used tire made me pull the trigger. With Covid and severely limited travel last year it's only been used once but I still feel it's worth having. I have a pair of tires coming soon for my Buell and a pair of Pirelli Angel GTs sitting ready to go on the FJR. Neighbor called and asked if we could mount tires for his HD soon.

I think the last time I actually paid regular price I carried in the wheel with old tire still on, bought the replacement tire form the shop and their"discounted" price to mount and balance the new tire was like $40. My Nomar set up delivered was around $500 I think but I added some stuff to the order. I figure at 40-50 per tire within a dozen tires I've paid for it. Only did 2 so far but there's also the satisfaction of doing your own work and knowing you did stuff right which adds value for me. Extra benefit is if i do a few for other folks and charge say $20/tire it's not that hard to do. Friend of mine has same equipment which is what lead me to purchase mine. He asks for 2 x 6-packs per tire and drinks Guinness. This keeps his beer supply stocked up and we'd usually make a tech day out of it working on other stuff in addition to tires.

I Should have cruised up your way on the grom. Still would have been cheaper than a shop

I bought this HJC modular unit from a local bike shop. The built in sun visor is a game changer. It is not the best insulated helmet but it is fairly comfortable.

That is steep. My local Honda dealer mounts and balances tires for $36 per wheel. I change my own dirt bike tires, but usually let them do my street bikes. Drop them off in the AM, check out the bikes on the showroom floor, eat a bite, and then pick them up. Worth every penny.

I'm ready. We could meet up at Brushy Mtn sometime soon. The only weekend I am booked is May 22.
