It wasn't quite that explosive but was slightly entertaining. I was just happy the mirror didn't break or my aux. light mounted from it. When I pulled over to get the body off my mirror I took a couple pictures of it it. G/f failed to see the humor in that. LOL. Of course when we got back to the hotel and were telling the story several friends indicated they would have taken selfies with it still on the bike. I think Dianne is starting to see what kind of twisted people I hang around with.

Weekend was great all I did was ride and relax, logged about 350 miles and visited a few state parks.

Apparently my phone didn't like all the vibration on the handle bars... the camera trips out now making a static noise and gets stuck trying to auto focus.

That sucks :\ I toasted the autofocus on two iphones, I think a 6+ and a 10, doing that. I had them in a ram xgrip on the bars but rarely use the mount anymore because of it.

I was wondering if that was a common problem...I have the 12 mini and it's only a few months old. Hoping they fix it under warranty. What mount are you using now?

Check out this thread on ADVRider:

    https://advrider.com/f/threads/iphone-7-camera-damaged-after-using-a-handlebar-mount.1379617/

I think the most common suggested product in there is the hondo garage buzzkill with their mount:

    https://shop-hondogarage.com/collec...orcycle/products/buzz-kill-vibration-isolator

I just don't run my phone on my bars anymore, honestly. For music I'll control it with my headset buttons or my apple watch, directions I just do through audio cues, and if I'm offroad and looking at maps I'll just stop and pull it out of my pocket.

Kind of a bummer as it was really handy to have it on the bars and charge it, but I'm not trying to shell out another 100+ on a vibration-free mount.

Thanks good info. I need to get a bluetooth set up for my helmet...I only use my phone to glance at the map but might be better off using audio instead.

Maybe it was the railroad tracks I jumped lol

it doesnt matter if youre using the video while riding or not. its just the fact that it gets extra vibrations while on the bars that messes up the auto-stabilizations

I’ve always been nervous about that and never got a phone mount for that reason. I keep my phone in my pocket when riding and try to memorize the route beforehand.
If nothing else, it’s healthy exercise for the brain and memory!

Triumph dealer accidently sold me a lowered version of the street triple R, got upgraded to the RS version for free. Not a huge fan of the color but didn't want to turn down the free upgrade as its all they had in stock.

Speaking of upgrading I am in the process of upgrading my gear too. Anyone have some good recommendations on riding pants? my current Kevlar pants look very much like dad jeans. Thinking about just getting a textile pair for a more slim / tailored fit.

I’ve been happy with my Klim Outrider pant. They have D30 armour in the hip and knee area. It’s removable. The hip slides into an internal mesh pocket, and there’s an external pocket at the knee with Velcro inside to position the knee pad just right. No discomfort riding, and with the armour popped out, they wear like a normal pair of pants. Find them both comfortable and durable. Now the disclaimer: These were my first and only non motocross pant, and I’m currently and for the foreseeable future bike-less.

I have those too! Love them. They're a bit thicker than a normal jean though, I'd say. They're more carhardt-level thickness. Also putting in a disclaimer: they're the only pair of moto pants I have.

I love my Street and Steel Oakland jeans. They provide solid protection and have a straight leg fit. The color is a dark blue and I like that there are no seems where the knee armor goes. They fit true to size. I think I paid around $130 for them at Cycle Gear.

I had these same pants in black. Athletic fit for those of us whose thighs are bigger than our ankles haha. They were comfortable and cheap compared to other brands. Sent them back, waiting for a size larger. I agree with the above that they’re true to size, I’m just in between sizes depending on brand.
