Picking out a bike is tough with all the options out there... and then you still need to spend time on it to confirm you really like it and fits your needs. You've owned quite a few so have got to try different styles which is helpful and also fun switching things up.

There are awesome bikes out there that can do it all, but obviously certain areas are compromised.

For me I think I need one that's comfortable to cruise on and another one that's sporty for some hooliganism. I would like something dirt friendly but realize the bulk of my riding is on the street. Long distance is another consideration, but mostly ride local so will work with whatever I have for that.

Decisions, decisions...it's a great time to be a motorcyclist!

Now that is a serious job. I adjusted the valves on my Ninja EX250 but it was a walk in the park compared to the job on the Honda.
Thanks for the links and info!

    None... yet.
Yeah, I may or may not have had more a few panic attacks and tantrums! It seems like all the Hondas I work on have spaces between parts just this much [] too close to keep (fill in random job here) from being relatively easy...

I think the biggest problem is that no single bike will meet ALL of the criteria. That's why we all need to own more than one bike at a time.

That's why I sold the GS and bought the 1250R. Now I'm trying to find a XT250 to pair with it for the off-road/crappy road fun.

I know someone with a low mileage XT250 that is thinking about selling. I think it's a 2017 or 2018. Hit me up if you'd like more info, it's not posted for sale anywhere yet.

Do any of you fine gentlemen live in Southern California?

Would love a fellow riding buddy who could show me the ropes of motorcycle ownership. Or even someone to hit some casual weekend rides with.

Found a Garmin Zumo 660 on craigslist for $80. It snaps right into the BMW gps holder since Garmin makes BMWs nav units and powers on/off with the bike but doesn't integrate fully like the BMW version. I'll take that for an $800 savings.

“Southern California” is pretty big. I’m in North LA. I know a few TW guys in OC that ride and they say I’m “too far”. (*cough @uhplifted )

If you ever find yourself up this way, let me know.

LOL very true. Prob won't be for a while until I get much more comfortable, but I do eventually plan to do some trips up to OC, LA, Santa Barbara, and eventually I'd like to do a trip up the 1. Will definitely keep you posted!

For me, the distance isn't an issue. just wanna get more practice under my belt before I start venturing out further.

Well if you read my feedback of the Softail Low Rider S from about a week ago I’d simply say the Softail was a much nicer riding experience than the Dyna. A lot of hate went to HD for killing the Dyna but they also get a lot of hate for not improving their bikes and the Softail simply rode better in every way so I’m a little confused at those upset with the upgrade personally but the HD world is not my world so what do I know.

After riding the Dyna with the wife on the back I’m glad we own bicycles :) haha
