CT90/110 folks... I found my way to the Honda trail forum but everything is locked, and looks like it hasn’t had a new post since April. What gives?

More than one way to skin a cat. I think multiple perspectives are a good thing. And one thing I agree with MotoJitsu at least is, go out and try these different ideas in a “controlled” environment. Try things out and see what happens for yourself! Granted, I’m not gonna go out at crazy speeds and try all these different lean angles…..but at lower, controlled speeds, sure. :notsure: I mean, I don’t know what I don’t know.

FJR owner and definite fan here. First FJR was a 2007 Black Cherry metallic that was an awesome machine. Had 127k on it when it met an untimely demise due to an asshole making a left turn and hitting me head on. Replace one week later with a 2014 FJR in that unbelievably gorgeous red color. 30k miles on the FJR is just getting broken in. An earlier post says to look for a Gen 3 bike starting in 2016. This is factually wrong as Gen 3 began in 2013. 2016 is the first year for the 6 speed transmission and available all LED lighting so the 2014 is a Gen3 bike. The 6 speeds ALL are under a recall for a second gear issue but Yamaha is taking care of it at no charge and I know quite a few folks on the 2016.

Is the 2014 you're looking at an A model or the ES model? ES has electronic adjustable suspension with inverted front forks. Nice features to have but was more money to start. What accessories are on the bike? Condition? There is a lot that come into play when determining pricing. I picked up my 2014 on September 27, 2019 with 7566 miles on it for $8499 plus taxes and fees here in PA. Bike was all stock with a fresh front tire but needed a rear tire soon. I installed new rear tire the next day. There are a couple of FJR specific forums that are quite active. I favor FJRiders.com myself and I'm pretty active over there. Feel free to PM me with any questions and I'll help any way I can. (Except for financial aid, you're on your own for paying for the damned thing.)

Really interesting video. I always leaned my body based on all the reading I did in sport riding techniques when I first started years ago. The dual sport has taken a lot of that knowledge and made me do stuff that otherwise felt wrong on a sport bike. Def want to keep this stuff in mind now just to play with it all.

I watched that yesterday and was playing around with my leaning on my way in to work this morning. Good skills to brush up on and play around with.

Wife’s had to replace 2 iPhone 12 cameras because of this when she had the Harley. Warranty covered it both times, but probably won’t mention the motorcycles if it happens again lol.

That's bizarre, that website used to be pretty hopping..

You're talking this one, right? https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hondatrailcts/

If you facebook, this group has been amazingly helpful and active: they have some pretty good resources in the files tab, too. A lot of the members from the old forum are in this group, too. (Including Jon Pardue who has some amazing electrical bits for stock ct90/110s)

I've toasted two iphones with my ram x-mount. I haven't used the mount in a while because of that. I toasted a six plus years ago and a XS Max two or three years back. Six plus I replaced the camera unit myself (back when they weren't waterproof and actually user-serviceable) and the xs got covered under applecare. Both were on my F800GS, which is a vibe-y 360 degree parallel twin motherfudger.

This conversation came up a few months back, and I believe the recommendations that came out of it were hondo garage's mount or the vibration reducing twist-lock one that I can't remember the name of..

Yamaha Bolt, and using a cheap mount that wasn't vibration dampening.

With just over 1000 miles under my belt, i doubt I'm qualified to give any suggestions that you wouldn't already know better than I. Glad you're okay though with minimal damage to the bike, and yes those situations you become hyperaware as described in other posts due to instinct.

Eh, no worries Zac. I mostly do solo rides but wanted to get into Moto camping and liner trips. I was thinking about riding out to AZ to visit family but I’ll wait till the weather cools down a bit. It’s not fun riding around in a puddle of ball soup.

Hm I'll have to figure out how i might be able to pack enough gear for moto camping on my bike/back haha. Yeah a ride out to AZ right now seems like it would be pretty rough.

I called Apple a few years back about using a magnetic mount on my bike, guy I talked to said it wasn’t advisable, something about the magnet messing the phone up, just an FYI.

Started a family trend. My dad and nephew got jealous and headed to the dealer

Speaking of this, anyone have experience with the quadlock vibe dampener? I’m afraid to put my phone on the handlebars

Anyone have a stock XR/CRF50 motor lying around? Switching my XR50 back to kid spec for my 6yo, and don’t want to pull apart my big valve 88 that’s in it now. Also would rather have OEM, not a chinese motor.
