Where’d you find the heavier fork springs? I’m intrigued I run ATF, too. Even my 81 cb750 calls for ATF.

A Canadian that goes by Gizmo Sells them for both the leading link and coil forks.

Install was a breeze since my 86 has 634mi on the clock and all indoor storage. The legs came out of the triples with not much more than a gravity assist.

I was going to leave the shock oil in. But as I was compressing my springs on the bench, the leg slipped out and whacked me in the nugget, hard. As I was dancing around with my “weapon” in hand I spilled most of the oil. So that prompted the ATF swap. Shit thing is, I was in the second leg, first was already in and torqued down. So I had to pull it again and match the ATF in the other leg. Live and learn I guess.

Today’s adventure taught me how to rebuild the front suspension (did a fork seal too), reinstall the the inner speedo cable, and most important... true my own wheels.

Ah yeah, Gizmo, I remember him from the old forum that went down. I knew about his leading link upgrade but didn't know he did one for the telescoping front forks too. Nice.

I’ve been playing a dangerous game lately with Craigslist. Searching for cars but capping the maximum year at 1979 just to see what projects are out there.
    :bananadead:

I think my next project will be something pre-war.

Definitely need a Seat Concepts replacement and install my pillow top grips if I'm going to keep up on rides like that. I also replaced my fork guards with red ones(they were white) and started the decal removal process(need to get a pic) but the all red front is looking

That reminds me, I need to put new a battery in my wireless controller for my heated gear and put it back on the FJR soon. Been fortunate that our weather hasn't gotten cold just yet.

Made an offer on a 2003 Buell Firebolt with ~17k miles. Supposed to go pick it up tomorrow. Anyone familiar with these bikes? Is there anything specific I should look for aside from the routine things (brakes, drive belt, clutch, tires, etc.)?
