I really think I picked the perfect starting bike for me at least lol. Though I do hope to snag an Indian one day as well.

Felt kinda bad because another guy on the same model bike, and myself, kept outriding the 3rd who was on a Yamaha Star Bolt. But we all had a good time

Sounds about right haha. I’ve ridden 98% Yamahas my whole life. Have had fun on other brands but that bike of yours is a perfect balance of fun/fast/beginner/veteran/retro/modern/handling/etc. I wanted to get one for my Pop’s because he grew up riding old DTs but he said it didn’t feel right when he sat on it for him ha. Ride safe! Ride as much as you can! :)

MAC makes a ready to go 4-2-1 I'm planning on running with it. I can't find the old article I read years ago, but if I'm remembering correctly it's double digit HP gains and better torque down low with that and a re-jet.

I did a really, really thorough rebuild 3 or 4 years ago on this bank of 4 and am really careful to fully drain the carbs after every ride along with using ethanol free and so far they haven't given me too much trouble.

I wanted one of these so bad haha (still would take one 100%). But I finally rode one (very briefly, could change my mind if I got it in the dirt) and I realized (for me only) off road bikes should be small and light, and on road bikes I like to be able to reach the ground  P.S. would still take one if I hadn’t mentioned that :D cheers

I plan on taking my Africa Twin offroad more than @4x4Runner. Basically scouting trails for my truck. Not sure if ill get into moto camping. RTT life spoiled me

I won't lie. Short trips are for the bike. Long trips are for the truck or Runner. Just so much better to be able to have weather protection on extended trips! Less exhausting than fighting the wind and weather every second of every day.

I'm the opposite. I love and prefer to travel by motorcycle. Commute nearly everyday on it and much prefer seeing the country from 2 wheels any chance I get. I'm not even sure if my truck has even moved yet this month. Choice of bike plays a big part in all of this though. With simple mods my Yamaha FJR1300 is far more comfortable and efficient than my Tacoma.

I commute on my bike every day and travel every weekend. I’m talking about the 6,500 mile trips the wife and I take.

Off roading, no. Camping would be a possibility if the g/f actually liked it. I do have several FJR owner friends who camp off of their bikes. Wouldn't mind adding a Super Tenere to the stable for off roading and camping use.

Nice! My biggest 2-up trip to date was in 2018 when we went to Spearfish, SD for an FJR meet. Little over 5k miles in 12 days.

Camping, motorcycles, Africa Twins, Tacomas, all in the same thread! Awesome. New here, first Tacoma, glad I’m finding like minded folks.

Part of the reason I bought the Tacoma is for family camping, but solo, I much prefer it on the bike. It’s my biannual/triannual “therapy” sessions.

This is from my last trip up the Appalachians to Maine and back. About 4500 miles mabdr and nebdr included. 2017 Manual Africa Twin. I also have an ‘09 Triumph Thruxton.

    Nice to meet you guys.
