Nics and scratches aside, that's a clean fire breathing dragon for $3800. I'd hate to be the asshole on the receiving end of those bark busters on a track day, if it ever sees a track.

Awesome, yeah that's kinda why I want to go down there, way more access to free public lands. We were actually in Asheville and loved the town itself but it seems that we won't find what I am looking for down in Asheville itself. Looking for a minimum 1 acre, 2 car garage 2k sq foot house in an area with good schools. Some searching has me looking at both hendersonville and hickory, but I need to go back to those towns again and actually house hunt. We are looking to move in 2-3 years or so. Asheville itself was a ton of fun, but I was surprised by the large homeless population.

The blue ridge parkway heading up to Mt. Mitchell was awesome. We hiked from Mt. Mitchell to Big Tom and saw the plane crash up there too.

Homelessness is getting out of hand here. But talking with other folks, and cop buddies from elsewhere, it’s getting out of hand in lots of places. No easy fix and sometimes what appears compassionate isn’t what’s best. We have a charity minded wealthy population here and word definitely gets out among the hobo/transient folks. They don’t seem to get hassled camping on public property. The general community here embraces art, creatives, and attracts a wide variety of people looking for something.….(trying to walk the line and not get political here) Hendersonville and Asheville are pretty much polar opposite’s in regards to this.

Schools is going to be the big variable for you. I’d suggest looking at Brevard as well. Weaverville is a good place. Some areas of Madison county are up and coming as people grow out of Asheville. There’s a lot of private school options along with charter schools.

It’s a great place. It’s been really good to me. I’d suggest anyone moving here to have work lined up beforehand. This can be a rough place to gain initial traction. The cost of living is skyrocketing. We were lucky and bought before the bubble. Our property value has almost tripled in the last 7 years. It’s definitely not perfect, but I haven’t found anything that is. It’s just about getting as close as you can and try to find that place where you can be your best self. Hollar if you have any questions or plan on visiting.

I lived in asheville from 2008-2010. My wife and I moved there right out of college (App State!). It was a fun town at the time but in my opinion, it has gone downhill quite a bit over the past several years. Like you noted, the job market is bleak, COL is high and property is too expensive. I belive a lot of the city's problems have to do with political policy and ideology. We moved from asheville to yadkinville and never looked back. There are tons of great roads to ride in this area and we're just a hop skip away from the blue ridge parkway.

@w.adventures and I have discussed a making a trip to Brown Mtn but haven't pulled the trigger. Would you be interested in going with if we ever get our ducks in a row?

This is embarrassing to tell, as it was completely my own stupidity! But it also makes for a thrilling tale!

Spent most of the morning getting a new rear tire on the bike. In the process, I put some lubricant around the inner part to make getting it on the rim a lot easier. Good news: It works really well and the tire went on smoothly! Bad news: I forgot to clean the tire before going out for a ride to make sure everything was good...

Left the house and took a turn at the big intersection just a 1/4 mile past the house. Fortunately, I was only going about 20 mph. Unfortunately, the rear end slid out and I went down. Helmet did it's job (head and neck are fine), but my pants hiked up past the kevlar and you can see the result. It is sore but not as bad as the bruising I have on the back of my upper left thigh. Weird thing is that I have no idea how I got that bruise...

Bike is pretty scratched up (if you zoom in, you'll see) but runs just fine. Got it up and out of the road, took a few minutes to make sure nothing on my body was broken and calm down, then rode back home and got iced down while the wife cleaned my knee.

Next up: Clean the freakin' tire, fix a few cosmetic things, and get back on that horse... after I heal a little... lol.

I bought one a couple months ago as the current one (my OG!) was nearing it's retirement time... and, yeah, I'm happy with how it has performed over the last 4 1/2 years!

Damn! Almost made it to retirement. Just bought my first Bell. Love it so far. Hope I never put it to the test, but it's encouraging seeing yours protected you in a slide situation. They seem like a good value for money helmet.

Jeez I just looked up the price of a African twin, the used market is nuts.

I see what you did there with the gold wheels..
The dealership will do the first service, then ill get some other supplies like air filters and tubes

out of your list, i think crash bars, baja designs, and pegs are at the top of the list. Videos say the seat is a high decent for a stock seat as well as exhaust. For grips, i might do oxford heated grips as they're only $90. But for now im still going to be a warm weather rider. Ill catch up to @4x4Runner later on miles

i hold firmly on the gold wheels and some gold handlebars, aesthetically it just looks right...

I would also highly consider some better pegs, it makes a huge difference and a nominal fee considering we always use the pegs when we ride
maybe add the camel brace peg support just incase:https://camel-adv.com/products/africa-twin-camel-brace

I have only been doing research on crash bars and a pannier rack system. Kriega makes a soft pack attachment but i also like the bars in the back
