I'm not really a fan of heated grips. Just happens the FJR has them from factory. The cold air is hitting the outside of your hand not your palm. I bought heated gloves over 20 years ago and prefer them. Just hadn't dug out any of my real cold gear as yet. Will be doing that within the next couple of days though.

A whole lot of riding opens up when you learn how to layer and dress appropriately for the weather. Winter riding is fantastic.

Came across this one for sale near me. Looks pretty clean and very complete.

One of the coolest things I've ever done was riding around right before Christmas and looking at Christmas lights.

I'm debating installing a heated seat for this year.. mmm toasty

Hardest part would just be re-stapling the seat cover when I was done. Electrical parts easy and the kits are cheap.

I'll do the same if Polaris can deliver my new scoot fully assembled. They are non committal at this point. Seem certain it will be delivered to the dealer by December 15th, but say there might be components missing due to supply chain blah blah blah. To be dealer installed at a later date.

I definitely recognize your complaint, but I noticed before I had them that the cold/wind would really affect the feeling in my fingers and make them less dextrous when grabbing the brake or clutch.

with the heated grips, i haven't noticed that issue at all even on a 45min ride on the freeway at night. granted, where i live doesn't ever get that cold, so i'm sure if i lived somewhere colder the benefits would be much less and i'd need a more effective solution. but it's enough to keep my fingers warm and nimble so far. they're more so for that purpose than keeping my entire hand warm.

the back of my hands can go eff themselves

Based on your location heated grips should suffice for most if not all of your riding. I ride pretty much year round so long as no snow on the roads or the crap PA treats our roads with. Seen single digit temps some mornings on my ride to work, about 10 miles, so heated gloves for the win.

Got bored at work, said fuck it, ordered a heated seat insert for $17.99. Figure $30 for a pneumatic stapler and I get a heated seat for under $50, whoop whoop.
