Funny you should mention. I was wearing an open face when I had my accident in 2012. Instinctively from my training at the time I knew to tuck my chin as I fell. Afterwards I saw a gnarly scratch on the forehead if the helmet. I often think if I hadn’t tucked my chin, my nose/face would’ve hit the road.

 

thank you for this, i love the look of them and 60-80deg would prod be the majority of my riding(SoCal), just gotta decide if i can deal with the rest

 

Here’s a pic I found that shows what the interior is (like a terry cloth material) and some of the discoloration (near my cheek) i’ve gotten on it from not being able to wash sweat out of it. Gross. Glad it’s just my head in there and no one else’s.

Got mine today! Time to get started.

 

I finished the first set of bags last night. That was probably one of the most difficult build sections I've ever done. The gearbox mechanism is crazy complex, good luck! Make sure you get those little orange wave discs lined up right. This one has 3 speeds plus neutral, the ducati had 2 plus neutral and the r1200gs was direct drive if I remember right.

Nope, mine were all there. Took a while to sort but there's a lot of very small similar looking pieces.

You opened all like 3 of the "1" bags, yeah?

 

Yeah, it just took me a little bit to get sorted. Once I got started, it's been smooth sailing. Making sure I double and triple check before going to the next step each time.

Also, it seems like all these pieces were just arbitrarily thrown in different bags. lol

 

Anybody use a gps tracker device for their bike?

he actually reviewed a gps tracker that is disguised as a generic relay but it required a cellular plan to operate. Had some cool features though.

For that money you could just use an apple gps thing that all the you do kids are using these days.

one thing to consider is that most thieves don’t steal bikes to keep, they steal them to strip. So unless you recover the bike immediately after being stolen, chances are you might not get it back in one price if at all.

yeah for sure. There is one called monimoto which seems to have decent reviews it’ll notify you within 5mins of it moving since it utilizes a key fob that “unlocks” the sensor if your in proximity. Else any movement gets triggered.

With the rampant theft for everything these days I am debating getting a tracker and was wondering if anyone had first hand experience.

 

Wonder if you can get an insurance discount. Might make the $49 a year even more palatable

 

If you live in a dense city honestly an apple airtag might make the most sense for a bike tracker. They're what, $25-30 with no subscription fee? You don't need to keep it charged or change a battery so you could bury it pretty deep in the bike where noone could find it.

Transmission never shifted right, I built the bike outside of the engine itself.
Pretty sure the builder had set the cam-plate incorrectly. Sometimes the new gears are too tight so while I had it disassembled I swapped out some new for old gears. It’s been a nightmare but I can finally find all 4 gears plus neutral. One of the most frustrating things I’ve ever worked on.
