Has anyone here added a fan to 2021 FC450? Is it pretty hard or easy? I’m guessing the Husqvarna the best kit?

    None... yet.
Tested out my heated gloves the other day while shoveling and they seemed to work decently. Wanted to test 'em in their natural environment though, so, with the temp around 36F, I geared up with lots of layers and headed out for a little 10 mile loop. Happily, the gloves kept my fingers from feeling cold at all. If I get even 5 extra commuting days, they'll have paid for themselves in gas savings!

Also, found out my rear tire is completely worthless in snow... lol.

Not sure if I agree on his take about the multi-weight oil. That chart he flashes on screen is for ambient temperature, not oil temp. So it’s not “designed to flow at 10F” as claimed, it’s designed to flow in an engine experiencing a 10F environment. Very different.

I’ll keep warming things up. Doesn’t hurt anything, even if it might not help much.

I’ve never seen such cute little piston rings. Time to tear apart the ct90

Wait until you see the piston itself. I "awwed" out loud when I rebuilt mine haha

Oh, and I'm not sure how far into the cases you're going, but if you do take them apart, double triple check that your left hand side one is correct around the sub trans. A lot of the less expensive gasket sets include the one for the one year without a sub trans instead of the many more years that did have them and you'll develop a nasty leak.

It’s smoking and overheating a bit, so I’m hoping to just take the cylinder off and re-ring it. Hoping to not touch the bottom end at all

but thanks for the heads up.

Should be a quick and easy job then!

Two more random notes: make sure you put the acorn nut back on the correct head stud with the copper washer, another spot for a leak if it's wrong, and don't put your points cam back on 180 degrees out of timing, that'll drive you nuts trying to start it back up  probably worth it to lube the whole points plate up while you have it off. CT90 restoration blog has a great page on that process.

And of course I can’t get the side case off without an impact screwdriver and mine is at my dad’s house six hours away

I guess it’s gonna get an oil change and some crossed fingers

Make sure you use a JIS bit, a standard philips will torque out and strip the whole thing. MotionPro and Vessell are the two preferred brands of them, from what I remember. This is the one I bought, has #1, 2, and 3 and I don't mix it up with standard bits being on it's own T-handle.

Probably also worth checking your valve clearances while you have some tinker time. That's quick and easy to do without diving into the cases.

Edit: one more thing if you have some time to wait for parts to come in, 4into1 has a set of hex head bolts for CT90s for like $30 or 40 that can save some headache in the future. I put one of their kits on both my ct90 and cb750.
