well by the sound of that you were proactive with maintenance at least

perhaps it was was not properly adjusted, too much slack on one end too tight on the other?

certainly possible, though I last had it adjusted by our fellow TW'er Jason and he usually tends to know what I'm doing. My best guess is that the rain riding couples with no lubing since maybe played a key role in the deterioration of the cable strands.

Will have to keep an eye on it moving forward, and be sure to lube up after any wet rides.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
The cause is lack of lubrication at the pivot barrel. With a jammed pivot, every time you pull the clutch in, the cable wires are flexed just at they leave the barrel. Flex / straighten, Flex / Straighten . Repeat until failure. Multi strand cable wire is "high strength, but it can't stand repeated bending.

A drop of oil or a tiny spritz of chain lube every couple months is all it takes.

Plastic lined cables don't really need frequent lube, but the ends still do!

    DIY maintenance!

FYI, my manual for a modern street bike calls or no oil/lube on cable. Grease at lever pivot and friction points.

First few paragraphs I was thinking way too hard about if it was actually real or not. Well written.

alright ordered a skid plate online for the ktm yesterday and picked up new tires for the ktm today...
also picked up fresh tires for the ol xr50 project (first parts purchase for this project in 2 years :anonymous::tumbleweed:)

also had to buy some rim locks for the ktm since that cheap ass manufacturer stopped including them along in the tool pouch with all new purchases...
some fresh tools and a healthy credit card fucking...

Both of these quads r my brothers. He has about 1.2acres but it's all thickets beyond his property line and no one lives beyond the property in the back so we were out there all day breaking trail with the chainsaw n machete. Made good progress open lots of trails up.

So trespassing and destroying someone else's property while tearing it up with quads?
